Problem with the air conditioning in the Toyota Aygo 2013: tips for repair in the workshop

A/C System Not Engaging

Air conditioning blows warm air

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my 2013 Toyota Aygo. The air conditioning only blows warm air, the cooling/heating performance is poor and the system doesn't switch on properly at all. My guess is the temperature sensor of the heat exchanger. Has anyone ever had the same problem and can give me some advice on the best way to fix it in the workshop? What experiences have you had? Any tips and tricks would be super helpful. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I happened to have a similar issue with my 2015 Toyota Yaris, but I'm not a car expert, more in the some experience category. As for your temperature sensor, I had a similar fault: the cable/connector of my temperature sensor was defective. I paid 155.0 euros for the repair at my garage at the time. They restored the faulty connection and my car was fine again. To give you more details and help you better, I would need some information about your vehicle. How long have you been using the air conditioning? Were there any signs or problems before? Every little bit helps with troubleshooting.

Thank you for your quick reply! I noticed last week that my air conditioning is somehow strange. I've been driving this car for a whopping 212781 km now, and the signs of age are starting to show. Apart from the air conditioning, everything is working perfectly, and the last service was fine. So let's keep looking for the solution. Maybe someone else here has a good tip.

Hey, that's quite a lot of mileage your Aygo has clocked up! Good that the rest is still working perfectly. As far as the air conditioning is concerned, there are several possible causes for your problems. It could be the temperature sensor, as you suspect. But it could also be that your air conditioning system has a lack of refrigerant or even a leak through which refrigerant is escaping. Or perhaps the system simply needs a thorough cleaning. To be honest, I would recommend that you take your Aygo to a garage and have the air conditioning checked. The way you describe it, it could just be a minor technical problem that can be fixed quickly. In any case, you should have a working air conditioning system in your car during the hot summer days. It's best to do this as quickly as possible before the problem gets worse and you have to invest even more money. Hope this helps you. Keep us posted on what the cause was and what the experts at the workshop said. In the meantime, maybe someone else here will have a few useful tips. Stay cool, friend!

Thank you very much, that's really good advice. It could actually be that the coolant has run out or there is some other minor technical problem. Off to the garage with it, I'll definitely have the air conditioning checked. It would be nice if the problem could be fixed quickly and cheaply, the summer will be hot. I'll keep you posted and share the results. Maybe it will help someone else here too. See you guys then! Stay cool too!
