Problem with oil light on a 2018 Mercedes GLE Diesel

Metal shavings in oil

Oil light on

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2018 Mercedes GLE Class Diesel. The oil light is on and the warning light is flashing in the speedometer. Could it be the engine oil pressure control? Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me troubleshooting tips? Would like to know how this was fixed in the workshop and what experiences you have had with it. Thanks in advance!

Hi mate, had a similar problem with my 2016 Mercedes GLC diesel. I would describe myself as an amateur when it comes to cars. So at my garage they found a faulty wiring loom on the oil pressure control valve, which was oily. They charged around 350 euros for the repair. To help you better, I need more information about your car. Have you recently made or noticed any changes? What specific model are you driving?

Hey, thanks for the tip! My car is a GLE 250d, no major changes apart from normal wear and tear. Last service was at 133631 km, but haven't done any major driving since. Will follow your advice and have the wiring loom checked. Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, always welcome! I didn't make any changes to my GLC either. Just normal use, you know? So, I would strongly recommend you get this checked as soon as possible. Even if it's just a wiring harness problem, it can affect the engine functions and cause major damage. The cost of replacing a motor is definitely higher than 3 euros. So don't wait too long or it could be more expensive. Please give us an update on how it went. All the best!

Hey, I understand what you're getting at. I definitely don't want to end up in a situation like this. I've already arranged a workshop appointment for tomorrow and hope it's nothing more serious. Judging by your reaction, I definitely made the right decision to get it checked in time. Thanks again for your helpful advice and support. I'll get back to you as soon as I know more!

Hi, I’ve got a P06DA fault code. What can I do to fix it? Is this something urgent to address?

The P06DA code indicates a problem with the oil pressure control circuit. This could be due to a faulty oil pressure sensor, wiring issues, or a problem with the oil pump itself. It's crucial to address this issue promptly as it can lead to serious engine damage if left unchecked. I'd recommend starting with checking the oil level and condition. If the oil is low or dirty, it could cause this code. If the oil is fine, then you might need to inspect the wiring and sensor. If you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, I'd recommend taking your car to a professional mechanic. Could you please update us on your progress?
