Problem with illuminated indicator lights and airbag light in Toyota Highlander 2016

Airbag warning light

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Toyota Highlander (built in 2016, petrol engine) that is giving me a headache. The indicator lights in my speedometer and those of the airbag light up, but the cause is still unclear to me. I suspect the problem could be due to a malfunction of the active hood, but I'm not sure. Do any of you have experience with such symptoms and can give me a tip? How was it solved in the workshop? I would be grateful for any help.

Hi friend, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Toyota RAV4, I'm not exactly a car expert but I know a bit about it. I took my car to my local garage and found that the acceleration sensor was faulty, which caused the indicator lights to come on. The repair cost me 315.0 euros, which was not cheap, but necessary. Could you provide a few more details about your vehicle? For example, have you recently had a major car repair or do the warning lights only come on when driving or when starting the engine? I hope this information helps you. Regards!

Hi, thanks for the tip. Well, my Highlander has now done 228739 KM and the last service was about 5000 KM ago. The lights are always on, regardless of whether I'm driving or just starting the engine. I have not carried out any major repairs in the recent past, everything has actually gone smoothly. I'll take your comment about the accelerometer into consideration and bring it up on my next trip to the garage. Thanks again for your help! Greetings back!

A similar thing happened to me with my RAV4. It had about as many kilometers on it as your Highlander. In my case, it was the acceleration sensor and the sensor for the active hood, both of which had to be replaced. So your assumption may well be correct. If I were you, I would have the fault memory read out in the workshop. That should clarify things. By the way, the constant illumination of the indicator lights doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. In my case, the lights came on even though there was no fault. It was just the on-board electronics going haywire. So, don't worry too much and have it checked by a professional. Maybe you'll be lucky and it's just a small sensor that needs replacing. Best wishes and good luck!

Hello, thank you for your feedback and the detailed explanations. I find it reassuring to hear that the lights coming on doesn't necessarily mean something bad. I will definitely follow your suggestions and have the fault memory read out at the garage. Hopefully it's just a minor fault and not a costly repair. Thanks again for your support and advice! Best regards!
