Problem with heating and fault memory in Peugeot RCZ Diesel 2010 - experiences and solutions wanted

Heated windows without function

Fault stored

Hey guys, I have a problem with my 2010 Peugeot RCZ Diesel. The window heating no longer works and there is something in the fault memory. I suspect it has something to do with the rear window heating. Have any of you experienced this and perhaps know how it was solved in the workshop? I would like to know how this is fixed and what I can expect. Many thanks for your tips!

Hello, well, I once had a similar problem on my 2008 Peugeot 308. The rear window heater stopped working altogether. I don't have much experience with cars, but I took it to a garage that I know and trust anyway. At my garage, they discovered that the heating wires were defective. It cost me about 585 euros to repair the whole thing. So, it could be something similar in your case, which would at least point to your fault memory indication. But to be able to help you more precisely, I would need a detailed description of what exactly the problem is in your case. What symptoms does your car have? Is there any noise coming from the engine area? Are there any warning lights that come on? The details are important to find out the exact cause of the problem.

Hello, thank you for your quick reply. Nothing happens when I switch on the rear window heating. No noises, no warning lights, just nothing. It's as if the switch is not connected. I probably won't be able to avoid going to the garage. The 585 euros really hurt, but what the heck, safety first. I've done 195050 KM on the bike so far and the last service was at around 190k. So it's quite fresh. Had hoped it would be something simple, but it looks bad. Thanks for your help, I hope my description helps you. Regards

Hey, so your description actually sounds like it's a problem with the rear window heater. Apart from it being in your fault memory, it could also be that the signs point to a fault with the rear window heater. In my Peugeot, there was no noise or warning light, but it was still the rear window heater that was faulty. The repair costs are of course always annoying, especially when it comes to a replacement part for a rear window. But you're right, safety always comes first and it's better to have it checked out by a professional. You could perhaps talk to your garage about whether it would be possible to pay for the repair in installments if the costs are too high. I hope that helps you a little. In the end, a workshop is probably unavoidable. All the best with your Peugeot! Regards

Hi, wow, thanks for the advice and the thorough analysis. It calms me down a bit after all the stress. An offer to pay in installments would of course be great if the costs are that high. I'll definitely bring it up with the garage. Now I just have to hope that it won't be too expensive. Thank you again for your help and I wish you all the best. Your advice was really helpful. Regards
