Problem with frozen spray nozzles and possible heater defect in Audi A8 Diesel 2016

Spray nozzles frozen

Greetings, I have a problem with my 2016 Audi A8 diesel. My spray nozzles are frozen and I suspect it could be due to a fault with the spray nozzle heater. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me some troubleshooting tips? I would be particularly interested in your experience of how the problem was resolved in the workshop. Thanks in advance!

Hi, actually had a similar problem with my 2014 Audi A6 diesel once. I have a bit of experience with cars, but am far from anything like a professional, so this was new territory for me. In my case, it was actually the cable connection that was faulty. The garage took the thing apart and reconnected it properly, cost me 95 euros. I would guess that your A8 might have a similar problem? What exact symptoms do you have? Maybe I could then give you a few more specific tips.

Thanks for the quick reply! I hear a strange noise from the front end when starting, and the windshield stays ice cold regardless of the outside temperature. I had my last service at 73457km. The guys at the garage said everything was fine then, but the actual problem doesn't seem to be fixed yet. I think I'll take it back to the garage this week and have the cable connections checked. I hope it's not too expensive.

Hey, good that you're having this checked out, better safe than sorry! The noise you hear could actually indicate a problem with the wiring. But it could also possibly be a problem with the pump itself, as the washer stays cold constantly. When my heater failed, I noticed that the windshield remained cold despite the outside temperature. At that time, it was discovered that the heating rod of the nozzle was broken. It wasn't a cheap repair, but it's definitely worth getting it checked out. The mileage shouldn't really matter here, it sounds like a specific defect. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the repair won't be too expensive. In any case, keep us posted on how things progress. Good luck!

Thank you for your tips and encouragement! Yes, you're right, I really should get this sorted out as soon as possible. The idea with the pump also sounds plausible, I'll talk to the garage about it. I also hope that the repair won't be that expensive. I'll definitely get back to you when I know more. Thanks again for your help!
