ABS warning light

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Ford Escape (gasoline engine, year 2011). The ABS warning light is on, the ABS system is out of order, the warning light in the speedometer is flashing and there is a fault stored. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Could it be that the wheel speed sensor (ABS sensor) is defective? How did you solve this in your workshop and do you have any tips for me? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, it sounds like you have a serious problem. When I was in a similar situation, I was dealing with my 2009 Ford Focus. I have limited experience with cars, but I can share my experience with you. In my case, the ABS control unit was faulty, which caused several warning lights to come on in my car. Like you, I initially thought of other possible causes, such as the wheel speed sensor. In the end, I took my car to my garage and it was the ABS control unit that needed replacing. The repair cost me 1000 euros. It could be that you are also confronted with a defective ABS control unit. Could you perhaps provide some more information about your Ford Escape, how many kilometers it has on it and whether you have already had other work on the brake system? This would help to find a more comprehensive solution. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. My Escape has 80561 km on the clock and hasn't had any problems with the brake system yet. So the ABS control unit could actually be the problem. I will have it checked at the garage. Your experience has helped me a lot. The engine is running perfectly and apart from the ABS problem, the car is in very good condition. Hopefully the repair won't be too expensive! Thanks again.

Hey, no problem, I'm glad I could help! With your mileage and no previous problems with the braking system, the ABS control unit sounds plausible as a possible source of the fault. Glad to hear your Escape is otherwise in good condition. At least that's something positive. Be sure to have it checked at the workshop. They may also have the option of repairing the ABS control unit instead of replacing it completely, which might be cheaper. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the repair won't be too expensive! Let us know what comes of it. Good luck!
