Hey, thanks for your answer! My C8 is a petrol engine and now has 136165 km on the clock. There was nothing special in the fault memory, so my first thought was the brake pedal position sensor. But if the control unit is the culprit, then that could also explain a lot. Sounds like expensive fun... Did you have the control unit replaced afterwards? And has the problem not recurred since?

Hi, yes, it was indeed expensive fun... But what can you do, safety first, right? And yes, the control unit was replaced and since then I've had no more problems with the brakes or the ABS warning light. I have to say that I don't use my C5 that intensively. Over the years I've only driven about 80000 km on it. So maybe that has something to do with it, I really can't tell you exactly. But if nothing special appears in your fault memory, it could well be the brake pedal position sensor. Perhaps it would make sense to have it checked. Or even better, get a second opinion before you spend so much money. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for the info! Really helpful. Safety is indeed the most important thing, so I probably won't be able to avoid having it checked at the garage. I think I'll heed the advice about getting a second opinion before I spend huge sums of money. Thanks again for your help, much appreciated! Hopefully the whole thing can be sorted out soon and then it will run as smoothly as it did for you. Take good care of yourself!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2008 Citroën C5, but to be honest, I'm not a car expert, I just have a bit of experience. I then went to my garage because the ABS warning light was constantly on and the brakes somehow didn't work any smoother. They searched around a bit and finally found a fault in the control unit. It was quite expensive - I had to pay 1000 euros for it. But I was relieved that it wasn't anything more serious. Is your Citroën C8 a diesel or a gasoline engine? And what is in the car's fault memory? If I know that, I might be able to give you a little more input.
