Problem with ABS systems in BMW 3 Series (2000)

ABS/DSC system is not working

Greetings, I currently have a problem with my 2000 BMW 3 Series with gasoline engine. I have various warning lights, including the ABS warning light. The ABS does not seem to be working. What could be the reason for this. Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me tips on how to solve the problem? How did you get it repaired at your garage and what was your experience? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2005 BMW 5 Series. I don't know much about cars, but it turned out that the solenoid valve was faulty. The garage then repaired the damage and it cost me 315 euros.

Hello, thanks for your quick reply! My BMW now has almost 226,000 km on it and otherwise runs quite well, only the warning lights worry me. Was the whole ABS repaired on your car or just the solenoid valve? I'm a bit worried about the cost, but if this is the solution, I'll probably have to tackle it. Thank you!

Hi, I had exactly the same problem with my own BMW 3 Series. In the end, it was actually the ASC system. So, yes, exactly, that may well be the reason. If the ASC system is not working properly, this can definitely affect ABS and DSC and cause these warning lights to come on. At my garage, they checked the ASC system and it ended up having to be replaced. It was a little expensive, but after the repair the problem was solved. The whole system worked without any problems and the warning lights stopped coming on. So, I would definitely recommend getting your ASC system checked out. It certainly won't hurt, and if that's the culprit, then you'll be rid of the problem. Good luck with that and let us know how it goes!

Many thanks for your feedback! I'm somewhat reassured to hear that others have had similar problems and it has been fixed. I will ask my garage to check the ASC system and replace it if necessary. I hope the cost will be reasonable, but safety comes first of course. I will keep you posted and thank you again for your support!

I had a very similar issue with my 2000 BMW 3 Series. It turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor. Getting it diagnosed and replaced by a professional mechanic solved my problem. Check the sensors and connections first. Hope this helps!
