Power Steering Failure in Infiniti JX Help Needed

ABS/DSC system is not working

Power steering without function

Vibrating/shaking steering wheel

Hey everyone, having issues with my 2013 Infiniti JX. The power steering suddenly stopped working, along with the ABS and DSC systems. When driving, the steering wheel shakes quite a bit. I suspect it's related to the electric power steering signal, but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Would really appreciate hearing what repairs were done and how your shop fixed it. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a somewhat similar issue with my 2011 Infiniti QX. The symptoms you're describing sound exactly like what I dealt with steering went heavy, and those warning lights lit up like a Christmas tree! In my case, it turned out to be a faulty cable connection to the power steering control unit. My mechanic found a loose connector that was causing intermittent signal issues. The fix cost me about 155€ mostly labor since they had to remove some parts to access and replace the connection properly. Before I can give more specific advice, have you noticed any warning lights on the dash? Did this happen suddenly or gradually? Have you had any recent work done on the car? Might help pinpoint if you're dealing with the same issue I had.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm currently at 97497 KM and had my last service about 3 months ago. Yeah, it happened completely out of nowhere while I was driving. No warning lights before they all just popped up at once. Haven't done any recent work except for regular oil changes. Your connector issue seems pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. Hopefully it's just that and nothing more serious. I'll definitely get my mechanic to check those connections first.

Hey again! After hearing those additional details, I'm even more convinced your issue is similar to what I experienced with my QX. The sudden onset and multiple systems failing at once is exactly what happened to me. Since you're at 97K km, it's right around where these kinds of electrical gremlins can start showing up. My issue popped up at around 105K km, so the timing matches up too. The fact that it happened suddenly with no previous warning signs also matches my experience perfectly. Just a heads up when my mechanic dug deeper, they found that moisture had actually gotten into the connector over time, causing some corrosion. They ended up cleaning the connection points and applying some dielectric grease to prevent future issues. It might be worth asking your mechanic to check for that specifically. And while the connector fixed my issue, definitely have them check the power steering control module too, just to be safe. Would hate for you to replace the connector only to find out there's more to it. Keep us posted on what your mechanic finds! Always good to know how these things turn out for future reference. Good luck!

Really appreciate the detailed follow-up! That's super helpful info about the moisture and corrosion I'll definitely mention that to my mechanic when I take it in tomorrow. Makes me feel a lot better knowing it might just be a connector issue rather than something major with the steering system itself. Will update the thread once I get it checked out and know what's actually going on. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience it's been really helpful in giving me a starting point for the repairs!
