Possible problems with the fuel pressure sensor in a Renault Megane 2019: experience reports and solutions wanted

Hello car enthusiasts, do you have any experience of unusual problems with a 2019 Renault Megane with a petrol engine? I am experiencing some symptoms - black smoke when accelerating, the indicator light comes on, cold start time is longer than normal, I notice a loss of engine power, jerking when accelerating and poor fuel efficiency. There is also a strong exhaust smell. I suspect that it could be the fuel pressure sensor. How did you solve such problems in the workshop? What experiences have you had with this? I look forward to your tips and experiences!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Renault Scenic. I'm not a car mechanic, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. In my case, it wasn't the fuel pressure sensor, but cable connections that were faulty. Took the car to the garage and they fixed it. It cost me 155 euros. Maybe you should have it checked to see if the cable connections are also the problem? But a little more information would be helpful. What kind of engine is installed in your Megane and how many kilometers has it already done? This could help to narrow down the problem a little better. Best regards

Hello, thanks for the quick reply! My Megane has a 1.5 L gasoline engine and has now run about 82283 km. Last service was recently. I'll definitely keep your tip about the cable connections in mind and bring it up at my next workshop visit. It would definitely be cheaper than replacing the sensor. Many thanks and best regards!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! With your 1.5 L gasoline engine and the mileage, it could of course be a whole lot of things. Unfortunately, a general diagnosis is not that easy. But the cable connections could of course be an issue, especially if the symptoms are as varied as yours. Replacing a sensor can of course always be expensive, depending on which one it is. But it's often the case that you rule out the expensive things first and only then come up with the cheaper solutions. So I would definitely recommend that you have the cable connections checked by someone who knows about this - before you have the sensor replaced directly. Hopefully that will help you. Keep your fingers crossed that you get the problem under control quickly. Best regards!

Hello, thank you very much for your advice! Surely it could be a lot of things affecting the motor. I will take your advice and have the cable connections checked first before I consider an expensive sensor replacement. Your experience and support is very helpful and I really appreciate it. I will keep you posted on what comes out of the check of the cable connections. Thanks again and best regards!
