Hey there, thanks for the insight! Your experience gives me some relief knowing it's a surmountable issue. But damn, yeah, not looking forward to the inconvenience. By the way, do you remember how much you needed to fork out to fix that EGR valve issue? And curious to know if any other problems popped up after this one or has your Mazda been running smooth since then? Any info would be super helpful!
Hey, glad to provide some relief with my experience. I absolutely relate to your dread about the inconvenience, been there, done that, eh? As for the cost, fixing that pesky EGR valve set me back by 355 Euro. I did experience a bit of sticker shock initially, but considering the troubles it was causing me, I felt it was worth it. And honestly, if you think about it, it's reasonable given the labor and parts involved in the repair. In terms of subsequent issues, I gotta say, my Mazda's been running like a dream since then, touch wood. The mechanic certainly did a stellar job as there've been no noticeable problems since the valve replacement. So, you can take heart from that. It does seem like sorting out the EGR problem settles most of the other issues as well. Cheers and keep us posted. Good luck!
Cheers! Your first-hand account's been really helpful, and those figures give me an idea of what to expect. Haha, I think I'm ready for the upcoming sticker shock now. I'm dang relieved to know your Mazda is running smooth post-repair. Fingers crossed, mine shows the same courtesy after fixing the EGR. Will make sure to find a reputable garage and put my baby Mazda in good hands. I'll keep you all updated on how things turn out. Here's hoping it's just the EGR valve and nothing more serious. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience!
Hey, feels like we're in the same boat here. Just went through a similar ordeal with my 2011 Mazda CX-9 a couple of months ago. Check engine light, that unmistakable exhaust stink, drop in power, and unusual engine shut down - almost exactly the same symptoms. Turned out, you guessed it, the EGR valve was stuck. I suspected as much as well, but wasn't confident enough to tackle it myself and went to a local garage. The mechanic there was a total pro and did a good job. He confirmed it was indeed the EGR valve causing the problem. The valve was stuck open, causing the engine to run inefficiently and basically, everything was totally out of whack. Hence the harsh idle, stalling and power loss. They had to clean the EGR valve and replace some worn-out parts. Overall, wouldn't say it was a breeze, but no nightmare either. Just a bit of an inconvenience. Was back on the road in a couple of days. So, while it's a bit of a headache, it's definitely fixable. Just make sure you go to a reputable garage, ask around or read reviews if you're unsure. Good luck with it!
