Hey again! Yeah, I took mine to the Porsche center and it cost me €95 for the cable replacement. The Hall sensor on the tailgate was indeed acting up, just as I suspected, but once they fixed that faulty cable, everything's been working like a charm. Not a single problem since then, the tailgate opens and closes perfectly now. Honestly, it was worth every penny going to the Porsche specialists. They knew exactly what they were dealing with, and I'm glad I didn't try to cheap out with a regular mechanic. It's been about 8 months now, and I haven't noticed any other electrical gremlins or weird behavior. The warning light disappeared right after the repair and hasn't shown up since. Hope your fix holds up as well as mine did! Let me know if you notice anything else unusual, always happy to share experiences with fellow Porsche owners.
Thanks for the follow-up! Yeah, my repair experience was pretty similar. I took it to the Porsche center last week, and they sorted it out quickly. The final bill came to €120, a bit more than yours, but they also had to replace a small connector that had corroded. Funny enough, while I was there, they showed me the old wiring, it was definitely shot! The mechanic explained everything clearly and even gave me some tips about preventive maintenance. The tailgate's been working perfectly since then, smooth as butter. Guess we both learned the hard way that some things are just worth getting done at the dealer! Really appreciate all your input on this. It's good to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this issue. Take care!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2016 Porsche Boxster last summer. The tailgate completely stopped responding, and I got the same warning light. Initially thought it was just the switch, but turned out the cable harness was damaged. The insulation had worn through over time, causing intermittent failures before it completely gave up. Took it to the official Porsche service center, they did a diagnostic scan which confirmed the cable harness issue. They had to replace the entire wiring assembly in the tailgate. Not a super complex job, but definitely needed proper tools and expertise. The whole repair took about 4 hours. While it wasn't a critical safety issue, getting it fixed properly was important to prevent any potential electrical problems from spreading to other systems. Would recommend going to a Porsche specialist for this one rather than a general mechanic.
