Thanks for sharing your experience, Mike! That's super helpful and sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. Glad to hear it wasn't anything too serious in your case. Would you mind sharing how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, have you had any other electrical gremlins pop up since they fixed it? Just trying to get an idea of what I'm in for. Cheers!
Hey there! Quick update on my Boxster situation, since you asked about the costs and follow-up issues, I'm happy to share. The repair set me back 222.50 € for fixing that faulty plug connection, and I gotta say, it was money well spent! Since seeing the mechanic, the "Light switch function limited" warning has completely disappeared, and I haven't had a single electrical gremlin show up. It's been smooth sailing all the way, no more unusual light shows in my driveway! I know electrical issues can be scary (and potentially expensive), but in this case, it turned out to be pretty straightforward. If you're experiencing the same symptoms, I'd say go for it and get it checked out. Better to nip these things in the before they turn into bigger problems. Let me know if you need any other info about the repair process. Always happy to help out a fellow Porsche owner! Cheers, Mike
Thanks again, Mike! I really appreciate all the detailed info. Just wanted to update everyone, I took Mike's advice and finally got my Cayman checked out at a Porsche specialist yesterday. You were spot on, it was indeed a corroded connection causing all the trouble. The mechanic showed me the damaged parts, and I could actually see the corrosion build-up. The total bill came to about 250 €, a bit more than Mike's repair but still reasonable considering it included a full diagnostic check. They found some early signs of wear in other connectors too, so they treated those as a preventive measure. The best part? Drove home last night and this morning, no more ghost lights! Such a relief to have this sorted. Really glad I didn't wait any longer to get it fixed. Thanks everyone for the help. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ones! Cheers!
Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster last year. The headlights were doing exactly what you're describing, unusual activation and switch issues. Turned out to be a faulty plug connection in the headlight control module. Took it to my local Porsche specialist, and they found corroded terminals in the wiring harness connector. There was some moisture that had gotten in there over time. It wasn't a major repair, but definitely something you want to get checked out since electrical issues can get worse if left unattended. The fix involved cleaning the connections and replacing a couple of damaged terminals. They also applied dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion. Car's been running perfectly since then, no more ghost lights. Since you're dealing with a newer Cayman, I'd strongly suggest taking it to a certified Porsche specialist. These electrical systems are pretty complex, and you want someone who knows the platform well. Best, Mike
