Porsche Cayenne's Mystery Bounce: Air Suspension Woes?
Excessive Bouncing
Uneven Ride Height

Thanks for your input! My ride has 27588 KM on it and was just serviced last month. The bouncing actually gets worse after sitting overnight, but interestingly, no warning lights have popped up on the dash yet. The rear passenger side seems to be sitting lower than the rest, especially when parked. Good to know about the wire harness, I'll definitely have them check that when I take it in. Keeping my fingers crossed it's just a connection issue like yours!
Hey again! Thanks for those extra details about your Cayenne, that overnight behavior definitely rings a bell. You know, after I dealt with my Panamera's issue, I actually had something similar happen again about 6 months later, but it was showing those exact same symptoms you're describing, worse after sitting overnight and that uneven rear passenger side. Just want to add something I forgot to mention in my first reply, before we found that wire harness problem, my mechanic initially thought it was the air compressor starting to fail (since it was working overtime trying to level things out). But the fact that you're not getting any warning lights, just like I didn't, makes me lean more towards it being an electrical gremlin rather than a mechanical issue. Quick tip from my experience, maybe try resetting the suspension by doing a full raise and lower cycle before taking it in? Sometimes that helped temporarily with mine, though it wasn't a permanent fix. Might at least help you get to the shop without too much bouncing! Let me know what your mechanic finds, really curious if it turns out to be similar to what I dealt with. These Porsche hybrids can be tricky sometimes, but they're worth the occasional headache!
Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! That's super helpful to know about the air compressor possibility too. I'll definitely try that suspension reset cycle you mentioned before heading to the shop, anything to make the drive there smoother! I've actually just booked an appointment for next Tuesday at my local Porsche dealer. I'll make sure to mention both the wire harness and compressor possibilities to them. Really appreciate you sharing your experiences, it's given me a much better idea of what to expect and what to discuss with the mechanic. I'll update the thread once I get it sorted out. These cars are definitely special enough to be worth the occasional quirk!
Hey there! I've got some experience with hybrids, I'd say low to moderate level of expertise. Had a similar issue with my 2016 Panamera Hybrid (Porsche family too). The symptoms were pretty much identical, uneven ride height and that annoying bouncing. Turned out it was indeed a cable connection problem, but with the air suspension sensor, not the door contact. Took it to my regular workshop, and they found a damaged wire harness that was causing weird signals to the suspension control unit. Total fix was around 155€, mainly labor costs for locating and fixing the connection. Quick question, have you noticed any warning lights on the dash? Also, does the issue get worse after the car sits for a while? This info would help determine if you're dealing with the same thing I had.
