Porsche 997 Blower Issues: Common Ventilation Flap Fix
Blower does not work properly

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine started acting up about two weeks ago, no warning lights, but the blower only works intermittently on the higher settings. Had my last service done at 75,000 KM, and now I'm at 77,209 KM. Just hoping it won't be anything too serious. I'm planning to take it to my local Porsche specialist next week, but wanted to get some community insights first. Has anyone else needed to replace the servomotor cable, and did it solve the issue completely?
Hey again! Yeah, when you mention those symptoms, it sounds exactly like what I experienced with my 991. The intermittent working on higher settings is really typical of the servomotor cable issue. When mine started acting up, it was doing the same thing, working fine on low settings but getting sketchy on the higher ones. After they replaced the cable on mine, it's been working perfectly, that was about 8 months ago now. Haven't had a single problem since. My issue started around 82,000 KM, so we're in a similar ballpark mileage-wise. Just a heads up, when my mechanic got in there, he also noticed the blower motor itself was a bit dusty, so they cleaned that out while they were at it. Might be worth asking them to check that too when you take it in. The whole repair was pretty straightforward, and like I mentioned before, wasn't too expensive compared to some other Porsche repairs I've dealt with. Let us know what your specialist finds out, always good to keep track of these issues in the community. The more we share, the more we all learn, right?
Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really reassuring to hear that your repair was straightforward and relatively inexpensive. I'll definitely ask them to check the blower motor for dust while they're at it, good thinking! I've scheduled an appointment for next Tuesday morning, and I'll make sure to mention the servomotor cable specifically. You're totally right about sharing experiences, it helps everyone in the Porsche community. I'll post an update once I get it sorted out. Really appreciate your help with this!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2013 Porsche 991 (I have some experience with Porsches, also owned a Cayman). Had exactly the same ventilation problem, the blower was acting up. Took it to my trusted workshop and turns out it was a faulty servomotor cable that needed replacing. The whole thing cost me around 170€ to fix. They got it done in about 2 hours. But hey, to help you better, could you share more details about when this started happening and if you're getting any warning lights on the dash? Also, does your blower work on any speed settings at all?
