Thanks for sharing your experience! Really helpful to know it was the microphone unit itself. Would you mind telling me how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the repair? Just want to gauge if this is a one-time fix or if I should expect any other related issues down the line.

Hey again! Yes, absolutely, after getting it fixed at my mechanic's, the hands-free system has been working perfectly! No issues whatsoever with calls or voice clarity. The repair bill came to 815€ for fixing the faulty Infotainment system, which included the microphone replacement and labor costs. I know it might sound a bit steep, but considering it's a Porsche and the quality of work, I'd say it was worth every penny. It's been over a year now since the repair, and I haven't had any other related problems pop up. The fix seems to be a permanent solution, I can finally take calls clearly while driving, and everyone can hear me perfectly. Honestly, it's such a relief not having to pull over or fumble with my phone anymore! Let me know if you need any other details, happy to help a fellow Porsche owner!

Thanks so much for all the details! Just got back from the mechanic today actually, what a coincidence with our similar issues! My repair ended up costing around 780€, pretty close to what you paid. They found the same problem with the microphone unit and got it sorted in about an hour and a half. The funny part was when they were testing it, the mechanic kept calling my phone while I was in the waiting room, making me say "testing, testing" over and over. But hey, at least now everything's working perfectly! Can finally take calls without my mom asking if I'm talking from inside a tunnel. I really appreciate your help, saved me a lot of worry knowing what to expect. Glad I got it fixed at a proper shop rather than trying some DIY solution like I was tempted to do! Take care!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2008 Porsche Cayman S last spring. The microphone in the hands-free system completely stopped working, and it was quite frustrating. Took it to my Porsche specialist, and they found that the microphone unit in the overhead console was defective. Turns out it's a fairly common issue in these models as they age. In my case, they had to replace the entire microphone assembly. It wasn't just a simple fix like a loose connection, the component itself had failed. The repair was pretty straightforward though, took them about an hour to sort it out. Not a serious mechanical issue, just an annoying electronic one. Hope this helps!
