Thanks for the info! Mine's acting exactly the same way. The car's at 118234 KM and just had its latest service about 2 months ago, but this issue just started last week. I've got a base Carrera, and yeah, getting that same annoying warning light. Haven't pulled any error codes yet, but I'm definitely gonna check it out. Did your specialist mention how long the repair took? Trying to figure out if I need to arrange for alternate transportation. Really appreciate the help!
Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up. Yeah, I totally understand your concern. My Cayman had about 105,000 KM when this happened, so pretty similar mileage range. The actual repair at my specialist's shop took about 4-5 hours, they needed to partially disassemble the front bumper to access the headlight assembly properly. I dropped it off in the morning and got it back by late afternoon, so you shouldn't need alternative transport for more than a day. Since your 991 just had service, maybe mention this to your service center? Sometimes these issues can pop up out of nowhere even after maintenance. Mine started acting up out of nowhere too, typical Porsche quirk I guess! Quick tip though, if you're planning to get the error codes read, might be worth calling the shop first to check if they have the part in stock. When mine went wrong, they had to order the servomotor which took a couple of days. Some specialists keep them in stock now since it's become a somewhat common issue with these models. Let me know how it goes! And if you need any other details about the repair, just give me a shout.
Thanks so much for all the detailed information! This is exactly what I needed to know. I'll definitely call my shop tomorrow and mention the servomotor, might save some diagnostic time if they know what to look for. Good point about checking parts availability too; I'd rather not have the car sitting at the shop for days if they need to order something. Think I'll schedule it for next week and just use Uber for the day. Really appreciate you sharing your experience, it's super helpful to know what I'm getting into, both time and cost-wise. Will update the thread once I get it sorted out!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2014 Porsche Cayman (I'm a car enthusiast with some experience working on Porsches). The symptoms were exactly like yours, warning light and faulty headlight leveling. Turned out to be a defective servomotor in the headlight assembly. Got it fixed at my trusted Porsche specialist workshop last year, set me back about 1,040 Euro, including parts and labor. They had to replace the entire servomotor unit. Which 991 variant do you have? This could help me share more specific details about the repair process. Also, are you getting any specific error codes? Let me know and I'll try to help further based on my experience. Good luck!
