Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm having the exact same symptoms with my 991. My last service was just 2 months ago and I'm at 15590 KM, so it's a bit frustrating to have this issue now. I'm not sure which wheel is the culprit yet, but I'll definitely have it checked out. I was hoping to avoid a workshop visit so soon after service, but hearing that your repair was relatively quick and straightforward gives me some hope. Did you notice any unusual noises or behavior before the lights came on?
Hey again! Yeah, I totally get your frustration about having issues so soon after service. Actually, now that you mention it, I did notice something before the lights came on in my Cayman. For about a week or so, I heard this faint scraping sound from the front right wheel, especially when taking slow turns. It wasn't super obvious at first, kind of easy to miss if you weren't paying attention. The weird thing was, the car drove perfectly fine otherwise. No vibrations, no pulling to either side, nothing that would really grab your attention. Then one morning, boom, warning lights all over the dash! Looking back, that scraping noise was probably the sensor starting to fail. Since you asked, my car had similar mileage when it happened, around 16,000 KM. The mechanic told me that sometimes these sensors can just fail out of nowhere, regardless of mileage or recent service. Could be debris, could be just bad luck with a faulty part. Tell you what though, if you're hearing any unusual sounds, even subtle ones, make a note of which wheel it's coming from. That info really helped speed up the diagnosis when I took mine in. Might save you some diagnostic time and money!
Thanks so much for all those details! That's really interesting about the scraping sound you heard, I'm definitely going to pay more attention when I'm driving tomorrow. Come to think of it, I might have heard something similar last week during a few tight turns in my parking garage, but I just brushed it off. Really appreciate you mentioning the similar mileage too, makes me feel better knowing it's not just my car being problematic. I'll probably schedule a workshop visit for next week and make sure to tell them about the potential scraping noise. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it's been super helpful in understanding what I might be dealing with!
Hey there! I had something very similar happen with my 2013 Porsche Cayman (I have some experience working on cars, but mostly basic maintenance stuff). The symptoms were exactly like yours, ABS and stability control lights came on out of nowhere. Took it to my trusted workshop last summer, and it turned out to be a faulty ABS sensor on the front right wheel. The whole repair, including parts and labor, cost me about 260€. They had it fixed in about 2 hours. Which wheel is giving you trouble? Also, are you getting any specific error codes? Knowing these details would help me share more relevant info from my experience.
