Hey, thanks for your reply! I really didn't think the engine control unit could be the problem, but that makes sense if it's the heart of the engine. I'm just wondering how expensive the whole thing is going to be.... Can you remember how much you paid for the repairs? And have you had any problems since then, or has your car been running smoothly since? Thanks in advance!

Hey, no problem, happy to help! So, the engine control unit actually cost me a whopping thousand euros. Not a penny, but since then the Peugeot has been purring like a kitten again. I actually had the problem with the ignition coil or the misfiring, as you suspected. But once I had the car at the mechanic, that was a closed case. It hasn't made a hitch since. A tip on the side: don't be fobbed off if you think something is wrong. Sometimes it takes a bit of persistence to get people to take you seriously. Just keep at it, it will work out!

Wow, a thousand euros isn't cheap, but if the car runs well afterwards, it's probably worth the money. Glad to hear your Peugeot has been purring like a kitten ever since! I'll take your advice to heart and definitely persevere with my mechanic so that he takes the problem seriously and finally solves it. Thanks for the good advice, it has helped me a lot!

Hey, I felt the same way with my 2015 Peugeot 508, same woes: Blackout when accelerating, check engine light on all the time, terrible performance. Also jerked like crazy and struggled to start. Fuel consumption was also higher than normal and the car kept stalling at idle and shaking when stationary. Your diagnosis could well be correct, but in my case the engine control unit was faulty. I can understand you wanting to get your mechanic to take this seriously. On my last visit to the garage, the mechanic said the ECU is the heart of the engine and if it's not working properly, it can cause all these symptoms. It's a pretty serious problem. The repair was no walk in the park. They had to remove the engine control unit and replace it with a new one. It was a bit of a complicated job because they also had to update the software to get everything running properly again. So, that's it in a nutshell. Of course, every car is slightly different, but that was my experience. Hope that helps you a bit. Have a safe journey!
