Peugeot 108 overheating and indicator light illuminated: Workshop recommendations requested

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hey guys, I need your advice. I drive a Peugeot 108 from 2020 with a diesel engine and have already driven 194,153 kilometers. Now the indicator light is suddenly on and my car is overheating. Since I recently had a pretty bad experience with my garage and the story with the controlled air flap really didn't go well there, I wanted to ask if anyone has ever had similar symptoms on their car and had a good experience with their garage? I would be grateful for any tips!

Hey buddy, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Peugeot 208. I also had trouble with the indicator light and overheating - and in the end it turned out that the wiring harness of the radiator shutter was defective and rubbed up behind the bumper. You could say that was a lot of trouble. They had to remove the entire bumper to get to the wiring harness and replace it. This is definitely no small feat and requires expert knowledge, as a lot of things converge in this area and it can easily happen that you break more than you intended to fix. But in the end, it was necessary to solve the overheating problem. So make sure you find someone who knows their stuff and won't rip you off. I can recommend my mechanic if you're in the area. He did a great job and everything has been running smoothly with my 208 ever since. Your Peugeot might have the same problem, so you better get it checked soon. Good luck with it man!

Hey, thanks for the great tip! That sounds like a lot of stress, but definitely doable if you have the right mechanic. Oh well, that reminds me of the thing with my air flap... It's unbelievable what you can experience. Can you perhaps tell me how much the whole thing cost in the end, with the new wiring harness and the work? And have there been any other problems since then? Thank you in advance!

Hey, no problem, I'm glad if I can help! The repair with the wiring harness wasn't that cheap, it cost €215. But that included installation and everything. And to be honest, after that it was really quiet. The issue with the controlled air flap was also resolved after the visit to the mechanic. No lights, no malfunctions, nothing at all. So it seems like the guy really knows his stuff. So in the end it was worth every single coin. Hope that helps you!

Oh man, €215 isn't exactly a bargain, but if it solves the problem, then it's worth it to me. Your experience sounds really reassuring, I'm glad you haven't had any further problems since. Thank you very much for all the information, really helpful! I'll see how things go for me and report back. You've really helped me out, thanks mate!
