Peugeot 107 Diesel (2005) - Problems with cold start, loss of power and black smoke, possible fuel pressure sensor defect

Longer cold start time

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Strong exhaust smell

Check engine light on

Poor fuel economy

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my 2005 Peugeot 107 diesel. It smokes black when accelerating, has problems with cold starts, shows the Check Engine light, stutters when accelerating, has power loss and increased fuel consumption. It smells pretty bad from the exhaust. I suspect it has something to do with the fuel pressure sensor. Has anyone ever experienced similar symptoms in their car and can possibly help me? I would be very interested to know what was done in the workshop and how it was solved. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi, this sounds exactly the same as my Peugeot 107 petrol, model year 2003. I would say I have a bit of experience with cars, so not really much, but in this case it was helpful. I had the same symptoms and after a few visits to different garages, I was told that the cable connections were faulty. They repaired them and it cost me 155 euros. I haven't had the problem since. It could be the same for you, but without having exact information about your car, I can't say for sure. Could you perhaps provide more details about your car? Maybe then I could help you better. Best regards!

Moin, thanks for the tip about the cable connections, I will definitely have that checked. As an addition to my Peugeot 107, it has 111460 KM down. As I said, it's a diesel and the problems only occurred recently. The last service was about six months ago and everything was still good. Thanks again for the help, maybe it will help! Have a nice day!

Hi, with my Peugeot 107 gasoline, which has now run over 100,000 km, it was really the cable connections that were the problem. But it sounds very similar to you. If everything was fine at the last inspection six months ago, the problems must have really only recently arisen. Maybe it's still that damn sensor. The replacement could cost around 75 euros, but that's still cheaper than driving around for a long time with reduced performance and increased consumption, not to mention the harmful exhaust emissions. I would definitely recommend that you have it checked at a garage soon - preferably one that is familiar with Peugeot. They can then check whether it's the cable connections or perhaps the sensor. I hope this helps you and you get the problem under control quickly. Keep me posted and good luck! Best regards!

Great, thanks for the additional information and the recommendation. I will definitely take my Peugeot to a workshop that knows Peugeot as soon as possible and have the problems mentioned investigated. The thought of continuing to drive with a faulty sensor or broken cable connections is scary indeed. Will get back to you with news, hopefully it's good news! Take care and thanks again!

Pegeout 107 diesel from 2009 single owner. 80 thousand km. It was telling me on the tester that there were problems with injector 4... then after a week the error disappeared. I took it to the dealership where it didn't give them any errors. They changed my injector but it still does the same thing. I mean;; in the cold for 5 minutes it hurts as if it would stop. It doesn't go round. 😭🥺

It sounds like you're dealing with a tricky issue. If the problem persists even after changing the injector, it could be related to the fuel pump or the ECU (Engine Control Unit). However, before jumping to conclusions, I would suggest you to get a thorough check of the fuel system, including the fuel filter and fuel lines. If the problem still persists, it might be worth having the ECU checked. Please keep us updated on your progress and don't hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
