Car won't start

Hey guys, I'm wracking my brains over my 2022 Kia Carens (gasoline engine) that's done about 82,861 KM. Lately, she's showing some symptoms making me super worried - the check engine light wouldn't go off, she takes forever to start on a cold day, the engine power is not what it used to be, gives jerks when accelerating, acts all stubborn when I try to start, and guzzles way too much fuel. I'm thinking it's a malfunction in the smooth running control but not sure if I'm on the right track. My last experience with a mechanic left a bitter taste in my mouth so I'm a bit wary of bringing it in. Anyone had similar issues or can clue me in on what to expect at the Garage? Cheers!

Hey, had a similar issue on my 2019 Kia Sportage, bit fewer miles though. From what I experienced, your suspicions might be spot on. My issue turned out to be heavily contaminated intake channels. I didn't believe it at first, but take a second to think about it. The intake channels play a big role in how your engine "breathes." If they're clogged up, you're gonna see drop-offs in power, rough starts, and the engine might consume more fuel than it should. Just like your Carens, my Sportage was being a total pain, poor idling, drop-offs in power, and a nasty check engine light that popped on and wouldn't go away. Don't mean to scare ya, but take this as a heads up - it's pretty serious if left unchecked. Probably not what you wanna hear, but a trip to a credible mechanic or a car service is a must. They'll need to thoroughly clean the intake channels to get rid of the issue. Remember, a clean intake system means a happy engine. Hope it helps, good luck!

Hey there! Appreciate you sharing your experience - sounds all too similar to what I'm grappling with with my Carens. Your explanation about the intake channels makes a lot of sense actually. Just trying to get a sense of how much this is going to pinch my wallet – can you recall roughly how much it cost you to get this straightened out? And since you had it fixed, any other issues raised their ugly heads or has your Sportage been behaving better? Cheers!

Heyo! No worries, always glad to help a fellow car enthusiast! As for the cost, it wasn't exactly pocket change, but trust me, it was well worth it. I shelled out around 425.00 € to get those intake channels cleaned out and back to normal. Since taking my Sportage to the mechanic, the previous issues are long gone - it's been running as smooth as a whistle! So yes, the pesky malfunction of the smooth running control issue was all sorted out with a good clean-up. I've noticed a significant improvement in fuel consumption, and all the power's back, so no nasty surprises so far (touch wood!). So I really advise you not to skimp on this. Get that Carens checked out and cleaned up. Fingers crossed, you'll be back to smooth driving in no time! Catch ya!

you've been a wealth of knowledge! Can't thank you enough for taking out the time and sharing your experience. It definitely eases my nerves a bit knowing what the problem might be and that it's fixable. That price tag does sound hefty, but like you said, it seems a small investment for a smooth ride. I'm now convinced about getting her to the mechanic. Hopefully, my Carens will also bounce back like your Sportage after the clean-up. I'll take your advice and not waste any more time. Fingers crossed, and here's hoping for a swift recovery for my Carens. Cheers, and keep you updated! Catch ya!
