Pajero E-Call System Dead: Warning Light Mystery

Emergency system without function

Hi everyone, my 2018 Mitsubishi Pajero's emergency call system suddenly stopped working. The warning light stays on and the system isn't responding at all. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I suspect it might be an error in the emergency call module, but I'd like to hear from those who've had similar problems. What was the actual cause and how did your mechanic fix it? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Had a similar issue with my 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander. Really frustrating when safety systems act up! Mine turned out to be a faulty speaker in the emergency call system, took it to my regular workshop and they diagnosed it pretty quick. The fix wasn't too complicated, they replaced the speaker unit and recalibrated the system. Cost me around 305€, but it's been working perfectly since then. Quick question, have you noticed any unusual sounds or complete silence when testing the system? Also, which trim level is your Pajero? Might help me share more specific details about the fix. Good luck with it!

Hey! Thanks so much for your input! My mileage is at 111485 KM and yeah, I've noticed complete silence when trying to test the system. Nothing happens when I press the emergency button, just that annoying warning light that won't go away. I've just had my latest service done last month and everything else seems to be working fine. Your experience with the speaker issue sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. Did your warning light also stay on continuously? I might take it to the workshop you mentioned, seems like a reasonable fix cost if it solves the problem. Just curious, how long did the repair take for you? I'm hoping to get this sorted quickly since it's a safety feature after all.

Hey again! Yeah, that definitely sounds exactly like what I experienced with my Outlander. The warning light was driving me crazy too, stayed on constantly just like yours. And the complete silence you're describing? That's exactly what happened with mine. The repair itself didn't take too long actually, dropped it off in the morning and got it back same day. I think the actual work took them about 2-3 hours. The most time-consuming part was actually waiting for them to run all the system tests after the speaker replacement to make sure everything was working properly. Since you mentioned your recent service, one thing I learned is that regular service doesn't usually cover checking the emergency call system in detail, so that's probably why they didn't catch it. With your mileage being similar to what mine was when it happened (mine was around 108,000 km), it seems like this might be a common wear point for these systems. I'd definitely recommend getting it checked out soon. Like you said, it's a safety feature, and you want that working properly. Tell your mechanic about the speaker issue, might save them some diagnostic time. Let me know how it goes!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! It's really helpful to know that this is a relatively quick fix and that you had such a similar experience. The mileage similarity is particularly interesting, maybe Mitsubishi should look into this as a potential systematic issue. I've just called my local workshop and booked it in for next Tuesday morning. I mentioned the speaker problem you had, and they seemed familiar with the issue. They said they'd prioritize it so I can get it back the same day. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's definitely made me feel less worried about the whole situation. Will probably save me some time and money too, since they can look directly at the speaker system instead of running extensive diagnostics. Thanks again for all your help!
