Overheating problems and possible coolant thermostat defect in the 2010 Citroen Ccrosser

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hi guys, I currently have a problem with my Citroen Ccrosser (built in 2010, gasoline engine), and I hope someone here can help me. The car overheats frequently and the check engine light comes on. I have a suspicion that the coolant thermostat may be faulty. Have any of you ever had a similar problem and can give me a few tips on how best to fix it? What was your experience when you had the problem fixed in the workshop? I look forward to your answers.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Citroen C4 Picasso (built in 2008). I don't have any basic car knowledge, but I can share my experience with you. In my case, the main cause was damage to the wiring harness, which cost me 170 euros. I took it to the garage and they repaired it in a short time. Perhaps you have a similar situation. But before you take any action, it would be helpful to know a bit more about your car. Have you considered other possible problems or noticed other warning lights? This could provide more clarity.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! I hadn't thought of any other possible causes until now and no other warning lights have appeared yet. The speedometer reading is 191951 km and the last inspection was about six months ago. But I'll definitely take your tip about the wiring harness into consideration and mention it the next time I visit the garage. Maybe that will help. Thanks again for your tip!

Hello again! Glad you're considering my idea. Based on your high speedometer reading and the fact that the last inspection was some time ago, there could well be a few things on your car causing the problems. It could also be a leak in the cooling system or a faulty water pump - both of which can cause the engine to overheat. However, it's good that no other warning lights have appeared. Nevertheless, I would recommend that you take the car to the garage as soon as possible to avoid further damage. It's always better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to the engine. If you like, you can give us an update after the workshop visit. Maybe it will help others in the same situation. Good luck!

Hello and thanks again for your helpful tips! I will definitely take the car to the garage as soon as possible and address your suggestions. It's very important to me to avoid further damage and get everything back in order as quickly as possible. A faulty water pump or a leak in the cooling system also sound plausible. I'll definitely get back to you as soon as I have any news. Hopefully I can help other people who may have the same problem with my problem and the subsequent solution. See you then and thanks again for your support!
