Overheating Issues and Check Engine Light in 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid Model

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hey folks, I'm a bit worried about my 2021 Renault Arkana; it's a hybrid model and has around 31,738 km on it. Recently, it's been showing signs of overheating and the check engine light keeps popping on. I'm suspecting that it might be something to do with a coolant thermostat malfunction. Anybody ever experienced something similar with their rides or have any thoughts on this? Been to a mechanic once and had a dodgy experience, so hoping to get some solid advice here before I take it again. Really appreciate your insights, cheers!

Hey, Oh, I've been through something similar with my 2017 Renault Kadjar. It may not look exactly the same from the outset as it's not merely about the coolant thermostat. After symptoms like yours started to crop up on my car, the mechanic discovered the issue was a damaged wiring harness, causing erratic sensor readings, which in turn led to overheating and the engine light popping up now and then. It's quite a serious issue if not addressed promptly since it controls the electrical flow throughout the vehicle. However, don't worry too much; after they finished the work on my Kadjar, the problems vanished. My advice would be, get it to a reliable garage quickly to avoid any further damage. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your Arkana!

Hey there, Wow, that's an eye-opener. Never would've thought it could be a wiring harness issue. But makes sense now that you've mentioned it. Quick one - do you recall how much it set you back to get that repair all sorted out? Your Kadjar seems like it's running smooth as butter now, any other minor problems show up since? Thanks so much for sharing your experience, really helps steady the nerves a bit. Cheers!

Hey, Yeah, it was indeed a bit of a surprise for me as well that the wiring harness was the problem. As for the costs, getting the wiring harness damage sorted out cost me about 110€. Worth every penny to end those sensor issues and overheating, I'll tell you! After that fix, haven't had any more problems, touch wood. And about the coolant thermostat malfunction that you suspected - spot on! When I mentioned the overheating issue to my mechanic, he did find a fault there too. Got that fixed along with the wiring harness. It's been smooth sailing since then. Hope it all goes well with your Arkana! Cheers!

Hey Friend, Okay, that's brilliant to know and your repair costs sound reasonable enough to me. Whatever it takes to have peace of mind while driving, right? Your tip-off about the coolant thermostat issue was very insightful as well, absolutely will mention it to the mechanic. Really glad I posted my concern here, getting firsthand insights from someone who's been through the same ordeal is very reassuring. Gonna bring my Arkana to the garage right away! Thanks and keep your fingers crossed for me, Cheers!
