Hey there, Sounds like I'm not alone in the Kia struggles, huh? Thanks for setting some light on your experience. If it's that cable causing trouble again, I won't be too chuffed! So, ballpark, how much did you wind up shelling out to get your cable replaced? Also, since you got it fixed, have you run into any other problems? Just trying to prepare myself for what might come next. Cheers!
Hey! Gotta say, owning a Kia is its own world of adventures, ain't it? As for your queries, the bill for replacing the cable came out to be around 220€. And you know what? Worth every penny! Since the fix, haven't had any issues related to the coolant pump. It's been running slick without showing any signs of being 'function limited' like before. Guess the problem was merely a defective cable messing with the pump/control unit. Just gotta find the right mechanic who 'gets' Kias, you know. Who knows, your Bongo could be back on track sooner than you think. Good luck with it!
Hi! Those Kia adventures are something, aren’t they? And thanks for sharing the cost details, it helps me set up a bit of a budget. Crossing fingers it's something as straightforward as a cable issue and not anything more sinister! I'll do some hunting and see if I can find a mechanic who's handy with Kias. Your experience has definitely given me a good direction to start. Much appreciated!
Hey! I feel your pain, I've gone through a similar issue with my 2010 Kia Rio not so long ago. The symptoms were like literally identical: overheating, and that nagging check engine light. In my situation, it ended up being a problem with the cable on the pump/control unit. The unit was apparently not getting the right signals which in turn, messed with my cooling system. It wasn't a minor flaw, quite serious indeed, because if not fixed, it could damage the engine in the long run. My mechanic had to replace the entire cable to fix the communication between the pump and control unit. I'd say, take your Bongo to a different mechanic, preferably someone who understands Kias. It could save you a lot of hassles down the road. Good luck!
