Hey there! Thanks heaps for your swift reply. Your overheating scare sounds a lot like what I've been going through. It's reassuring to hear that replacing the control unit did the trick for you. If it ain't too much bother, do you recall how much moolah you had to fork over to get this fixed? And any other issues popped up with your Panda since then, or has it been smooth sailing? Thanks again!
Hey there! Yeah, I hear you, these little glitches can turn into costly annoyances out of nowhere. As for the moolah side of things, it set me back 480 bucks for the control unit repair. Not cheap, but totally worth it considering the alternative could have been a completely cooked engine. And yep, since seeing my mechanic and getting the fan control issue sorted, my Fiatty's been behaving herself, touch wood. She's been cooling properly and hasn't left me all hot and bothered since. Can't guarantee you won't run into any other surprises down the line, though. But hey, that’s our extreme hobby, right? Fingers crossed your Seicento gets back to its chill self soon too!
Thank you! Your response has indeed given me a rough idea of what the issue could be, the possible solution, and what to expect cost-wise. Fingers crossed, my Fiat's problem will resolve like your Panda's did. Now, time to set aside a bit of dollars and pay a visit to my mechanic, eh! I must say, despite the little cranky episodes of our Fiatties, the passion we have for these Italian beauties keeps us going, doesn't it? Anyhow, really grateful for your time and your detailed suggestions. I'll for sure let you all know how it goes. Cheers! Stay cool and keep those engines humming!
Hey there! You're pretty on point suspecting the electric fan or its control unit. I drive a 2008 Fiat Panda and experienced a similar issue a couple of years ago. The AC suddenly started pumping out warm air, and the engine was turning into a small volcano. Honestly, it scared the heck out of me. Turned out, the electric fan wasn't coming on due to a faulty control unit. It's indeed a serious issue if you ask me, as severe overheating can damage your engine if ignored. Saw my mechanic, and he recommended replacing the control unit. Had the work done, and since then, the problem's been absent. Definitely recommend you get this checked out with a reliable mechanic - sooner rather than later. An overheated engine isn't something to mess around with. Hope this helps!
