Hey, no problem, happy to help out! So, the repair cost me just under €955. It was a pretty deep hole in my wallet, but what won't you do for your car, right? I can tell you that once the sporadically faulty communication between the control units was fixed, my car ran like new again. No more problems since then, really. As for the engine oil contamination: after the visit to the mechanic, that was also fixed. As already mentioned, the metal shavings could have come from the defective control unit. To be on the safe side, I had the oil changed, of course. But since then it's no longer an issue. So I would recommend that you don't wait too long. It could be that it's the same with your Citroen. And the sooner you tackle it, the less trouble you can have later. Good luck with it!

Thanks, buddy, I'm really grateful to you. You've given me a lot of clarity. 955 euros is a lot of money, but I'm afraid I'll have to accept that. My Citroen really is a diva, but so what? I like the car. So, I'll take your advice and get it checked as soon as possible. Hopefully it's exactly the same ECU problem as yours. I really wish everything would go well again afterwards. I've had enough of all these problems. Thanks again for your help. Your information was super helpful. I'll definitely get back to you when I have some news. Have a nice day!

Hey buddy, I had similar symptoms with my 2010 Citroen C4 a while back. In my case it was actually a problem with the communication between the control units. Sporadic faulty communication between ECUs, that's what they called it at the garage. And yes, it was a pretty serious problem. The ECUs could not exchange correct information and this led to crazy engine behavior, just like in your car. My oil warning light kept going on and off too. They ended up replacing an ECU in my car and that fixed the problem. It really shows how important these parts are to the smooth running of our car. And no, I don't think it has anything to do with contamination of the engine oil. Because I also had metal shavings in the oil and they said it could be from a damaged ECU. But to be on the safe side, have it checked at a trustworthy workshop. Hope this helps you!
