Overheating and Check Engine Light Issues on a '16 Dacia Dokker - Possible Controlled Air Damper Problem?

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hey! I'm having some weird issues with my '16 Dacia Dokker with a Gasoline engine. The check engine light's on and it's overheating like crazy. I'm thinking there might be a problem with the controlled air damper, but I’m not quite certain. Anyone else ever had this issue and got it fixed? Really keen on hearing your thoughts and how you sorted it out. Cheers!

Hey! I actually had a similar issue with my '17 Dacia Sandero. I'm no car wizard, but got a little bit of motor know-how. Took it to my local workshop and turns out it was the radiator shutter wiring harness worn behind the bumper. Cost me 215 Euro to get it sorted, but the ride's been smooth as silk since then. You might want to check if you've got the same problem. If you want more specific advice though, you gotta tell me more details about your ride. Any modifications or past damage? That could definitely help in pinpointing the issue. Catch ya' around!

Hey, thanks for your input! No modifications on my ride and no past damage as per my knowledge. All regular services were done timely and the last one was done just before the odo hit the 89205 km mark. So it's quite baffling why this issue might have come up. Based on what you said, radiator shutter wiring harness sounds like a possible culprit. I'll definitely get it checked out soon. Just wanted to check with the community if anyone else had faced a similar problem before I went ahead and shelled out the dough. Cheers!

Hey again, Glad to hear you've been keeping up with the maintenance! From my experience, sometimes these things just happen, even when you’ve done your best to prevent them. With the information you've given, and my prior experience, the radiator shutter wiring harness still seems like a good bet. I mean, I'd been on top of my regular services too, but the wear and tear of parts is something that's hard to predict, you know? Got it fixed and been smooth sailing ever since. Just keep in mind, even though we've got similar models, there might be different issues causing the same symptoms, so don't fixate on one possibility. Your mechanic will be able to give you a more precise diagnosis once they've done a thorough check. Anyway, best of luck with it all! Cheers!

You're right. Different issues might be causing the same symptoms, and it's probably best to let the experts take the stand here. I'll drop by my mechanic's place tomorrow and have it examined more thoroughly. Thanks for sharing your experience though, it's given me a starting point. Once I get it sorted, the Dacia and I will hit the road again in no time, hopefully. Take care and safe travels! Cheers!
