Overheating and air conditioning problems with the 2010 Ford S MAX: Experiences and solutions wanted

Air conditioning blows warm air

Overheating

Hi guys, I have a problem with my 2010 Ford S MAX (gasoline) with 146573 km mileage. The air conditioning is emitting warm air and the car is constantly overheating. I assume it could be a problem with the electric fan or the electric fan control. Have any of you had similar experiences and how did you fix it with your mechanic? Does anyone have any tips to prevent another bad experience with the mechanic? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had the same problem with my 2013 Ford Mondeo. The electric fan was not working as it should and the air conditioning was constantly blowing warm air. After a thorough investigation at my garage, it turned out that the control unit of the electric fan was defective. The repair was quite complicated because all the control units are actually interconnected and are essential for the correct functioning of the car. However, a good mechanic should be able to fix it. It was a serious matter, not so much because of the problem itself, but because of the possible consequences if it is not fixed in time. My recommendation is to get it fixed as soon as possible and find a mechanic you trust. Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for your input! That really sounded like a big job for you. Can you remember how much you had to pay for the repair back then? And haven't had any more problems with the air conditioning or anything since then?

Hey, it really wasn't a walk in the park, I tell you! I remember the bill all too well... It was exactly €480 that I had to fork out for the repair of the electric fan control unit. But hey, since then the problem with the electric fan and the air conditioning has been solved. Since the visit to the mechanic, everything has been running like clockwork again, just as it should. Hopefully you won't experience the same thing, good luck with that!

Wow, 480 euros, that really is a lot of money. But it's good to hear that it was worth it and that you've been able to drive with peace of mind ever since. I'm going to look for a mechanic now. Hopefully I can get away with it a bit cheaper. Thanks for your help anyway, it's really helped me!
