Outlander Nav System Dead: Audio Issues Point to Problem

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey everyone, my 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander's navigation system stopped working completely. I suspect it might be related to the audio system since some audio functions are also limited. Has anyone dealt with a similar navigation system failure? Looking for tips on what your mechanic found and how they fixed it. Any repair experiences would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey there! I had a somewhat similar issue with my 2008 Mitsubishi Grandis. The display went completely dead, and it turned out to be a bad cable connection between the control unit and the display. My local workshop found it when they checked the wiring harness, it was just a poor connection that developed over time. Fixed it for about 165 Euro, and everything's been working perfectly since then. They had to partially remove the dash to access and replace the cable. What model year is your Eclipse exactly, and are you getting any error messages or is it just completely dead? Knowing these details would help me share more specific info about what to look for.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My outlander is a 2010 model and the screen is completely dead, no error messages at all. Just did a service recently at 91,335 KM and everything else seems to work fine except for some audio features. I'll definitely have them check the wiring connections you mentioned. Did your mechanics have to do any reprogramming after fixing the cable, or was it just a straight cable replacement? Thanks again for the help!

Hey again! No, in my case they didn't need to do any reprogramming, it was purely a hardware issue with the cable. Once they replaced it, everything just started working normally again. But I should mention that my Grandis situation might be a bit different from yours since it's a slightly newer model. Since you mentioned the audio features acting up too, it really does sound similar to what I experienced. In my case, before the display totally died, I noticed the sound would sometimes cut out or get really low quality. It was all connected to that same wiring problem. Quick question, have you noticed any issues with the display before it completely died? Like flickering or intermittent blackouts? That's what happened with mine before it completely gave up. Just a heads up, while my repair was around 165 Euro, prices might have changed since then. But it's definitely worth getting it checked out, especially if it's affecting both the nav and audio systems. Let me know how it goes! Mike

Thanks so much for all the details. Yeah, now that you mention it, I did notice the display would occasionally flicker for a few seconds before going back to normal, but I didn't think much of it at the time. That was probably a warning sign! It's really helpful to know that your repair didn't need any reprogramming, that was one of my big concerns. I've just scheduled an appointment with my mechanic for next week. I'll definitely have them check those wiring connections first before looking into more expensive solutions. Even if it ends up costing a bit more than what you paid, it's still better than replacing the whole unit. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's given me a good starting point for getting this fixed! Take care!
