Thanks! You're a lifesaver! I'm glad to hear theyaged to sort it out for you. I'm thinking of booking it in with the dealership after reading your experience. Just wondering, do you remember roughly how much you had to shell out for the throttle body replacement? Also, has everything been running smoothly since then, or have you noticed any other quirks? My wallet's still recovering from the last repair bill, so I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm in for!
Hey again! Happy to help update you on my experience! So yeah, I took my Eclipse Cross to the dealership and they definitely sorted it out properly. The total bill came to 345€ for fixing the internal mechanics of the throttle valve that were playing up. I know it's not exactly pocket change, but honestly, it was worth every penny because the car's been running like a dream since then! The best part is, that pesky Throttle valve potentiometer error is completely gone now. No more jerky acceleration or power loss issues, it's smooth sailing all the way! It's been about 8 months since the repair, and I haven't had a single problem with it. The fuel consumption is back to normal too, which is a nice bonus for my wallet! Trust me, getting it fixed at the dealership was the right call. They really knew what they were doing with the hybrid system. I know it might seem a bit steep price-wise, but it's definitely better than letting the problem get worse or having a regular mechanic potentially mess things up even more. Let me know how you get on with yours!
Thanks so much for all the details! I bit the bullet and took it to the dealership yesterday. You were spot on, it was the throttle body assembly causing all the drama. They quoted me a bit more than what you paid (around 400€) but I figured it was worth it to get it done right. The whole experience wasn't as painful as I expected. The mechanics really knew their stuff and explained everything clearly. They even showed me the faulty part and why it needed replacing. Got my car back today and wow, what a difference! It's running super smooth now, no more jerking or cutting out. The engine light's gone too, and it feels like I've got a new car! Thanks again for pushing me to go to the dealership. You saved me from probably making things worse with a regular mechanic. Definitely owe you a beer for this one! Will update if anything else comes up, but fingers crossed this is the end of my car troubles for a while!
Hey there! I totally understand what you're going through. I had similar issues with my 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Hybrid last summer. The symptoms you're describing are exactly what I experienced, the unusual power loss, jerky acceleration, and increased fuel consumption. Initially, I thought it was just the throttle position sensor, but when I took it to the dealership, they diagnosed it as a faulty throttle body assembly. The internal mechanics of the throttle valve were defective and needed replacement. It was definitely a serious issue that needed immediate attention because it affects both engine performance and safety. The fix wasn't just a simple sensor replacement, they had to replace the entire throttle body unit and recalibrate the system. Given that you've got a hybrid, I'd strongly recommend going to a Mitsubishi dealership or a specialist who's certified to work on hybrid systems. Regular mechanics might not have the right diagnostic tools or experience with hybrid powertrains. The dealer I went to in my area (won't name them) did an excellent job, and the car's been running perfectly since then. Make sure you get it checked soon, driving with these symptoms could lead to bigger problems down the line.
