Hey, thanks for sharing that detailed experience! Sounds exactly like what I'm going through. Really glad to hear you got it sorted. Quick question, do you remember roughly how much the whole repair set you back? Also, has everything stayed running smoothly since the fix? Just wanna know what I'm potentially in for cost-wise and if it's likely to be a long-term solution.
Hey there! Happy to help with those details. I just got my ASX back from the mechanic last month, and I can tell you it was totally worth every penny. The whole thing, including labor and parts, came to 1550€, yeah, not cheap, but honestly, it's running like a dream now. The "Particulate filter efficiency too low" warning is completely gone since they replaced the defective diesel particles system (it was just worn out from all those miles). I'm actually really pleased with how it's performing now, no more black smoke, engine's got its power back, and it feels like I'm driving a much younger car! Been taking it on the highway regularly just to keep things running smoothly, and so far, no problems at all. Since you're dealing with the same symptoms I had, I'd definitely recommend getting it sorted sooner rather than later. These DPF issues can get pretty nasty if you let them drag on. Trust me, once it's fixed, you'll notice the difference straight away! Let me know if you need any other info, happy to share more about my experience with this!
Thanks so much for all that info! I bit the bullet and took it to the Mitsubishi dealer yesterday. You were spot on, turns out my DPF was about 90% blocked and needed a proper clean. The whole job, including replacing a faulty sensor and the cleaning, came to 1700€. Bit more than I wanted to spend, but wow, what a difference! Picked it up this morning and it's like driving a completely different car. No more black smoke, power's back to normal, and that annoying check engine light is finally off. The mechanic gave me some good tips about taking it on regular highway runs too, which I'll definitely follow. Really appreciate everyone's help here, especially your detailed experience. It made me feel much more confident about getting it fixed at the dealer rather than risking a cheaper option. If anyone else runs into similar issues with their Mitsubishi, don't hesitate to get it checked out, definitely worth fixing properly!
I had a similar issue with my 2015 Mitsubishi ASX diesel last year at 115k km. Same symptoms, power loss, black smoke, and that annoying check engine light. Turned out the DPF was clogged with soot and wasn't regenerating properly anymore due to city driving and high mileage. Took it to the Mitsubishi dealer since I didn't want to risk having an independent shop mess with the DPF system. The diagnosis showed the DPF sensors were faulty and the filter was about 85% blocked. They had to remove the DPF, do a forced regeneration, clean it professionally, and replace two sensors. It was a serious job that took two days to complete, but it solved the problem completely. Since then, I make sure to take longer highway drives every couple of weeks to help with natural regeneration. My engine runs like new now, no more smoke, full power restored, and no warning lights. If you're having similar symptoms, don't wait too long to get it checked. DPF issues usually get worse if you keep driving with the problem.
