Hey there! This sounds a lot like what my Scirocco is going through. That reassuring to hear it wasn't a killer problem for you. I agree, oil related stuff can cause some real headaches if left unchecked. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember around how much you had to cough up to get this issue sorted? Also, crossed fingers, has anything else popped up since the repair, related to the oil or otherwise? Thanks a ton for sharing your experience!
Hey, good to see you taking the bull by the horns! As for your question, the whole repair job for the faulty oil level sensor signal set me back about 165.00 €. It was worth every cent though, 'cause nobody wants an unpredictable oil light, right? Since the fix, my Scirocco has been driving like a dream. The sensor issue was fixed, no new oil-related issues have surfaced - touch wood! It seems that troublesome sensor cable connection was the culprit. Phew! Haven't had another reason to see my mechanic, which is always a good sign. Hope your Scirocco gets back on track soon too! Cheers.
Such a relief to hear! 165.00 € seems fair for peace of mind that comes with a smoothly running car, eh? Stoked to hear no new issues have cropped up on your end, gives me hope mine'll be sorted just fine as well. Your input has undoubtedly boosted my confidence to tackle this issue head-on. I'll have my "trusty" mechanic take a look and fingers crossed, my Scirocco will be back purring and no more oil light surprises. Thanks for the guidance, champ! Much appreciated. Cheers!
Hey! Sorry about the troubles you're going through. Had a similar issue not too long ago with my 2012 VW Golf. Had that oil light flicking on randomly despite changing the oil recently. On top of it, the annoying warning light just wouldn't let up. A quick trip to my mechanic led to a pretty thorough check-up. Sure enough, it turned out to be a defective oil level sensor cable connection in my case. It wasn't a huge deal, but ignoring it could've worsened things, causing much bigger issues down the line. So, definitely don't shrug this off, get it checked asap. The fix required was mainly around replacing the defective cable and doing a thorough cleaning to remove any residual metal shavings from the oil pan to avoid further damage. Also, the sensor was recalibrated post replacement for optimal performance. Hope it's an easy fix for you like it was for me. Definitely get it checked out soon though. Oil related issues are not something you want to play around with. Good luck!
