Oil light and valve noises on Citroën C8 - looking for advice and mechanic recommendations

Hey guys, on my 2012 Citroën C8 petrol engine with 147,519 km on the odometer, the oil light somehow comes on. I also hear some weird valve adjustment noise and the engine sounds strange. I also recently found metal shavings in the oil. Has anyone had similar experiences? Last time the garage was a fiasco. I'm afraid it could be a fault in the engine oil pressure system. Who has any tips, advice or can recommend a competent mechanic? Many thanks in advance!

Hey, I had the same symptoms with my 2015 Citroën C5. My oil ducts were blocked due to small plastic parts. The garage had to remove and clean the oil pan a few times. They removed the clogged parts and still couldn't get rid of all the particles safely. It is therefore essential to find a specialist who is familiar with this. Otherwise it can cause real long-term damage and that's not what you want. So it's better to have it done properly right away. Hope this helps you!

Hey, thanks for your advice. Seems like I should definitely secure the services of a professional. Can you remember how much you paid for the repair? You said that not all particles could be removed safely. Have there been any other problems with your C5 since your repair? Would be good to know what I should prepare for.

Hey, no problem, I'm happy to help! Well, I spent €1630 on the complete repair back then. It mainly involved cleaning the oil ducts, which were blocked by these annoying little plastic parts. But since the visit to the garage, my Citroën C5 has been running like clockwork. Fortunately, the mechanic got the problem with the engine oil pressure system under control. So, there have been no further problems since then. It's definitely worth having it checked and fixed by a professional. Just get a good mechanic and your C8 should run smoothly again. Take care and good luck!

Hey, thanks a lot, that's really helpful! 1630€ is a pretty hefty price tag, but if it can help solve these issues, I'll definitely see a mechanic. It's good to hear that your C5 hasn't had any further problems since then. It gives me some hope. I will find someone to look at it now. Thanks again for your help, really appreciated. Wish you a good time!
