Odyssey Memory Lock Fault Causing Multiple Error Codes

Fault stored

Hi there, anyone dealt with a Central fault memory lock on a 2020 Honda Odyssey? My diagnostic scan shows multiple stored faults but I can't clear them. Pretty sure it's the memory lock causing this, but need some real-world insight. Interested to hear from those who've fixed this, what was the actual problem and how did your mechanic resolve it? Any tips would be super helpful.

Hey! I have some experience working on cars and ran into a similar issue with my 2018 Honda Pilot last year. The central fault memory was acting up, and I also couldn't clear those pesky fault codes. Took it to my regular workshop and turns out the main control module was faulty. The mechanic had to replace it and reprogram the new unit. Cost me around 625 Euro, but it fixed the problem completely. Haven't had any issues since then. Before I can give you more specific advice, could you tell me what fault codes you're seeing and if you've noticed any other symptoms? Also, are you using an OEM scanner or a generic one? These details would help me understand if you're dealing with the same problem I had. The Odyssey and Pilot share quite a few electrical components, so I might be able to point you in the right direction once I know more about your specific situation.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm at 69440 KM and just had my service done last month. The fault codes I'm getting are mostly related to the door lock system, getting them on both a generic scanner and the dealership's OEM one. Haven't noticed any other issues except that sometimes the power locks seem a bit sluggish to respond. Really helpful to know about your Pilot's control module situation. My gut tells me it might be something similar, but I'm hoping it could be something simpler (and cheaper!) like a wiring issue. Did your mechanic try any other fixes before going for the full module replacement?

Hey again! Yeah, hearing about your door lock related codes definitely rings a bell. Before my mechanic went ahead with the control module replacement on my Pilot, we actually tried a few other things first, I should've mentioned that in my first reply. We initially checked all the door lock fuses and did a thorough inspection of the wiring harnesses, especially around the door hinges where they can sometimes get worn. Also tried disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes to see if a system reset would help, sometimes that's all it takes to clear those stubborn codes. The sluggish door locks you mentioned? Had exactly the same thing! Mine started out just being slow to respond, but it gradually got worse over time. Since your Odyssey is newer than my Pilot was when I had the issue, you might be luckier with just needing a wiring fix or maybe even just a software update. One thing I'd suggest before going for the full module replacement, ask your mechanic to check the door lock actuators. They're way cheaper to replace than the main module, and they can cause similar symptoms. Wish I'd known to check that first before spending all that money on my Pilot! Let me know what you find out, really curious if it turns out to be something different than what I dealt with.

Thanks so much for all this detailed info! Really appreciate you taking the time to walk me through what you tried with your Pilot. I'll definitely check those door lock actuators first, that's a great suggestion I hadn't thought of. I just called my mechanic and scheduled an appointment for tomorrow morning. Going to have them start with checking the fuses and wiring harnesses like you mentioned, then move on to the actuators if needed. Fingers crossed it's one of those simpler fixes! The battery reset is worth a shot too, might try that myself tonight before taking it in. It's actually really reassuring to hear your experience with the sluggish locks. Was worried I might be imagining things since it's such a subtle issue. Will definitely keep an eye on whether it gets worse like yours did. I'll update you once I find out what's causing it. Thanks again for all the help, saved me from potentially jumping straight to an expensive module replacement!
