Nissan Pathfinder 2015 Electrical Issues: Malfunctioning Parking Aid and Persistent Speedometer Warning Light

Fault stored

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Park distance control without function

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I've got some issues going on with my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder, Gasoline engine, clocking in at about 93,862 KM. I've got a problem where my parking aid feature seems to be on the fritz and general electrical quirks popping up. On top of that, my speedometer warning light won't go away. I'm guessing it's connected to my park distance control failing. Last time I trusted a mechanic, it didn't go so well, so hoping you folks might have some insight - ever dealt with something like this? What was your mechanic's diagnosis if you've ever run into the same trouble? Cheers, everyone.

Hey there! Your symptoms remind me of what happened with my 2018 Nissan Qashqai last year. Much the same, my vehicle's park assist was suddenly on the blink and the speedometer warning wouldn't just turn off. Kind of drove me nuts for a while, not gonna lie. Having had the problem inspected at the garage, it turned out to be a defective cable connection like you suspected. I guess the cable vital to the park distance control had become damaged over time which messed with the entire system. It caused electrical faults that were both confusing and worrying for a bit. While locating the issue took a little trial and error, fixing it wasn't as serious as I initially feared. The problem was specifically with the connection and not any larger electrical issue. The mechanics just had to replace the faulty cable and sort out the connection, and that resolved the issues right away. So no major heart attack there, but it sure taught me to keep an eye on the little things. Hope your situation is similar and an easy fix too. Good luck!

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience, really puts my mind at ease! It sounds like your Qashqai faced pretty much the same problem. Do you recall how much the cable replacement and fix set you back? And have you had any other issues since then? This stuff always has a way of cropping up at the worst possible times, right? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Hey there! Happy to help out. If I recall correctly, the cost to fix the defective cable connection was around 170 Euro. It was a bit of a sting to the wallet, but knowing that the parking aid was once again fully functional took a load off my mind. And in terms of any other issues cropping up since then, it's been smooth sailing. I mean, cars will always find new and creative ways to give us a headache, right? But for now, no major problems after the repair. Hope it goes the same way for you! Safe travels!

Legend, thanks for that! A bit of a hit to the ol' bank account, but safety comes first, right? It's refreshing to hear no other major issues have popped up since, definitely gives me hope. I'll get that cable checked out asap, fingers crossed it's the same fix for me. Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences, really appreciate it! Happy driving to you too. Cheers!
