Nissan Murano 2014: Possible Clutch Pedal Switch Issue causing Gear Display and Warning Light Problems

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Gear selection display in the speedometer without function

Hey folks, hope you're all doing good. I've got a 2014 Nissan Murano with a Gasoline engine acting up lately. It's throwing me a couple of odd symptoms - the gear display on the speedometer’s gone out and there's some warning light popping up on the speedometer too. Looks like it could be an issue with the clutch pedal switch, but I'm not entirely sure. Any of you guys had a similar experience? If so, could you share how you diagnosed and fixed it? I'd really appreciate your help and expertise!

Hey there! I've got some experience with car stuff, nothing too fancy, but I can share with you what happened with my 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, which had a nearly identical issue. My gear display lit up like a Christmas tree and the speedometer started throwing up alerts. Took it to my reliable workshop. After they did some diagnosis, turned out to be a faulty cable connection/plug to the clutch switch. Didn't break my wallet thankfully, cost me 95 Euro to get that darn thing replaced. Since then, no display warnings or alerts, smooth driving all the way. Could you tell me more about your Murano's symptoms? Any other lights on? Does the gear shift smoothly otherwise? These guys in my workshop were great, could perhaps recommend if they're close by. Hope this helps!

Hi there, thanks for sharing about your Pathfinder. That sounds pretty much like what's been going on with my Murano. No other lights are on and the gear's been changing smoothly enough. My mileage is at 183687KM and the latest service was just a few months back, so it's puzzling this is happening. I'd be grateful for the workshop recommendation, especially if they've got experience with Nissans / similar issues. Mercedes repair costs last time really had me digging deep in my pockets! Hope they can sort this out, fingers crossed. Cheers.

Hey, no problem, happy to help! I think we're barking up the right tree here with the clutch switch and the connector. These can wear out especially as the mileage goes up, like in your case. I'd say it's worth getting that checked out immediately. The guys in my workshop definitely know their way around Nissans. The place is called "Gearhead Garage" and is located in Industrial Area 5. Ask for Mike, tell him you've got a similar issue as that Pathfinder guy had, he'll know what you're talking about. These glitches can be confusing, man, but don't sweat it too much. Cars can be like people, weird stuff pops up the older they get. Hope this helps you out. And don't worry, their pricing is a lot more merciful than the Merc guys! Good luck and keep me posted!

Hey, much appreciated for all the advice and help. I'm relieved it's probably just a connector issue; I've had enough of hefty repair bills. Will definitely check out "Gearhead Garage" and ask for Mike. It's comforting to know they're experienced with Nissans and more merciful with pricing. I'll be sure to mention the Pathfinder guy and our chat here. Thanks again for taking the time to share your insights! I feel much more confident sorting it out. Will definitely keep you posted on how it goes. Cheers!
