Nissan GTR 2016 Park Distance Control and Electrical Malfunction Discussion

General electric malfunction

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Park distance control without function

Fault stored

Hey folks, I've been having a bit of a strange issue with my 2016 Nissan GTR. Lately, the park distance control seems to be on the fritz, and I've noticed a general electric malfunction. There's a fault stored and the warning light on the speedometer is on. I'm suspecting it might be an error in the parking aid, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone had similar problems and can share what worked for them? How did your workshop handle it? I really appreciate any advice you guys can offer. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Just wanted to reach out since I had a strikingly similar issue with my 2014 Nissan 370Z. The workshop I go to (I'm not a car expert by any means, more of a low-level experience guy when it comes to cars) did some troubleshooting and came up with a parking aid sensor being the culprit. These sensors can be finicky and usually the best course of action is to get them replaced. In my case, it set me back 265 Euro. Everything's been peachy since the replace, so that might be what you'll need to consider. That said, could you note any specific error messages you're getting, and whether you've had any recent services or changes made on your GTR? It might give us a better idea of what's going on and how to help. Hope you sort it out soon!

Hey, Thank you for the quick response! My error message is pretty non-specific, just has the usual "Check park distance control" warning. As for recent services or changes, the last service I had was when my ride hit 185516 KM. They didn't do anything out of ordinary, just the usual oil change, filter replacements, and tire balancing. But I'm kind of scratching my head here because this issue started showing up about a week after that service. Maybe something was accidentally tampered with or not properly connected back? I'll take your advice about the sensors though, looks like a trip to my local garage is inevitable. Appreciate your help, will keep the community updated on what happens!

Hey again, Ah, I see, the "Check park distance control" warning. Yeah, I got the same kind of generic warning too when I had this issue with my 370Z. Sensors could definitely be likely, with that message popping up. Sometimes during routine service, wires can get jostled loose or something might get knocked askew. But hey, considering the problem only happened after the service and not before, there might be a correlation there worth checking out. Don't worry too much though, it might just be a simple fix. I'd say bring your GTR back to the shop that did the service, explain the situation and have them take a look too. A good garage would want to make sure everything's running correctly after their service. And definitely, keep us in loop! Always helpful to share what ends up being the solution. Good luck!

Hey, Thanks again for the supportive words! I agree, it could be something that got shuffled around during the last service. I'll swing by the garage that did the service, let them in on the issue and see what they make of it. Fingers crossed they spot something and it turns out to be an easy fix after all. And sure thing, I'd be glad to share what eventually fixes this so that others finding themselves in a similar situation could benefit. Let's just hope I don't have to shell out too much cash eh? Take care and thanks once more for the help!
