Nissan Cube Convertible Top Malfunction and Persistent Warning Light Issue: Seeking Guidance and Advice

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Convertible top cannot be opened or closed

Hey all Cube lovers! I'm getting a bit concerned about my 2019 Nissan Cube, Gasoline model, with around 23,172 km on it. I'm having some trouble with the convertible top - it refuses to open or close. Plus, there's this pesky warning light on my speedometer that won't go off. I suspect this could be due to the Hall sensor sending incorrect signals. I had quite a lousy experience with my mechanic last time around and I would really like to avoid going back there. So, I figured I'd check if anyone else here has faced something similar with their cube or has any guidance on how to handle this at a mechanic? I mean, any particular question to ask, any particular part to look at closely, that sort of thing? Appreciate any advice you guys can give. Cheers!

Hey! I totally get your situation. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Nissan Cube. It definitely sounds like a cable or plug connection issue. Last time, my convertible top went haywire because of the same faulty signal from the Hall sensor. The guy at the garage ran a thorough check and located the faulty cables connecting the sensor to the speedometer. Plus, there was a loose plug connection leading to the convertible top. Both issues were related. This isn't a very major issue but it definitely needs resolving. Ignore it and you might end up stuck with an open top in pouring rain! The mechanic will probably run an error-code scan, check the wiring system and plug connections. The main thing you wanna ask your mechanic to focus on is the cable and plug connections linked to the Hall sensor and the speedometer. Also, cross-check the plug connection to the convertible top. His focus should be on these areas. Don't panic. Once these are fixed, your Cube should get back to normal. Good luck!

Hey there! Ah, brilliant! That was the sort of information I needed. So, was it a pricey affair getting the cables and plug connections sorted out? Do you remember how much it cost you? Also, has any other parts acted up since getting that fixed? I'm just trying to get a rough idea on what I'm getting into. Thanks for the help!

Hey! Now that you ask, the cost wasn't too hard on the wallet. I shelled out around 95€ to get those faulty cables and plug connections fixed up. Since it was directly messing with the Hall sensor and convertible top, it was a necessary investment. And the good news is, since the fix-up at the mechanic's, my Cube has been behaving like a charm. That incorrect signal from the Hall sensor? Totally sorted out. So yeah, apart from regular checks and maintenance, no other parts have given me trouble. Touch wood! Don't sweat it, your Cube should be back on track after this. Just make sure you get it done before the rains! Good luck, dude!

Hey back! That is such a relief! Alright, 95€ sounds reasonable for such peace of mind. I'm more than glad you've had a smooth ride (literally!) after that fix. I'll be sure to mention the exact issues you had and how they were sorted to the mechanic. Hopefully, that will save me some diagnostic costs. And yes, I'll get it sorted ASAP. Not a fan of getting drenched unexpectedly in my own car, thank you very much! Thank you once again for the info. It's a lifesaver! Cheers!
