Navigation system and audio failure in the 2009 Avensis: Possible connection with interior light?

Audio system is not working

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey guys, I need your help. I've got a 2009 Avensis with 114k on the clock, always running smoothly, but at the moment my satnav and audio are broken. I suspect it might have something to do with the interior light. Have you ever had problems like this? How was it with your mechanic? I would like to hear your experiences before I have to deal with bad mechanics again. Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my Avensis 2012. The control unit was defective in my car. My sat nav and audio were also broken, as well as a few warning lights. After a diagnosis in the garage, it turned out that the control unit had to be replaced. It was a serious problem, but fortunately it can be repaired. I don't want to scare you, but bear in mind that problems like this can occur. Hopefully this is not the case for you. It's best to have it checked at the garage. Good luck with that!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! It seems to me that it could be the electronics if that's what happened to you. Do you happen to remember how much it cost you at the garage? And have more things broken since then or is everything working fine now? I hope it won't be that bad for me, but thanks for the info!

Hey, no problem, that's what we're here for! Well, it cost me a total of €1000 to replace the entire control unit. Not exactly a bargain, of course, but everything was fine again afterwards. The navigation system and audio worked perfectly again and the problem with the interior light was actually fixed after the mechanic's visit. There have been no further problems since then and everything is running smoothly again. I hope it won't be that expensive for you, but you always have to assume the worst, right? So off to the garage with your Avensis and good luck!

Oh man, that sounds expensive, but if it helps, then it's probably worth the money. I would never have thought that something like this could cost so much. But better a working car than none at all, right? Thanks to your information, I'll take my Avensis straight to the garage tomorrow and have it checked. Hopefully the problem can be solved more cheaply for me. Thanks again for your advice! Cheers!

@Tcv09

Hi i have on my 2018 toyota hilux the fault code p1609 can you help me.

The fault code P1609 on your 2018 Toyota Hilux typically relates to an issue with the engine control module (ECM) or its communication with other control units. Start by checking the battery connections to ensure they are clean and secure, as poor connections can sometimes cause communication errors. If the connections are fine, it might be necessary to have a professional diagnose the ECM and related wiring. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!
