Navigation failure in the 2017 Toyota Yaris: experiences and solutions
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota Yaris owner is experiencing a navigation system failure, with the screen seemingly non-functional. A similar issue was resolved in a 2014 Toyota Auris by addressing a defective cable connection between the control unit and the display. The suggested solution involves having a mechanic check and repair the wiring, which previously cost around €165 and successfully resolved the issue without recurrence.

Hey, thanks for your reply! Sounds like a similar problem. Do you remember how much the repair cost you? And has anything similar come up again since then? I'm just a bit skeptical... Thank you!

Hey, no problem. The cost for me was around €165. It was necessary because of the poor connection between the control unit and the display. Horrible, but after the visit to the mechanic, the screen failure of the navigation system was fixed. Since then, such a problem has not occurred again. I can well understand the skepticism, but in this case the visit to the workshop was really worthwhile. Best regards!

Hey, thanks for taking the time to answer me. So it seems to be something more complex, but I definitely feel better prepared for it now. 165€ doesn't sound cheap, but it's still better than a completely inoperable navigation system. I should probably just go to the mechanic and hope that he can solve the problem as easily as you did. Thanks again for your help and your honest words. Best regards!

Hello, I had a similar problem with my 2014 Toyota Auris. In my case, the cable connection between the control unit and the display was defective. The mechanic had to take everything apart and check the wiring. Et voilà, there really was a bad connection. Once the wiring was sorted, everything worked fine again. A problem like this is more annoying than really serious. Sure, it takes time to solve, but it can be done. Best regards!
