Navigation and audio system in BMW 1 Series 2008: Possible cause: ring breakage diagnosis MOST bus?

Audio system is not working

Navigationssystem is not working

Dear community, I currently have a problem with my BMW 1 Series, petrol engine, built in 2008. My navigation and audio systems are acting up and not working properly. I have a suspicion that it could possibly be due to the MOST bus ring breakage diagnosis. Do any of you have experience with this specific problem or any idea how it was fixed at the garage? I would really appreciate a few tips and suggestions!

Hello, I own a BMW 2 Series, diesel, built in 2010, so I have some experience with BMW. I had a similar problem some time ago, it was actually a defect in one of the control units installed in the MOST bus. When I raised the issue in the workshop, the professionals replaced the control unit and the annoying problem was solved. I spent €1000 on the whole job, but the replacement was worth it, now the navigation and audio system works perfectly. Could you perhaps provide more details about your exact equipment and model? That would help to narrow things down and maybe I can then give you a few more specific tips.

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. That gives you an idea of what to expect financially... As for details, I can tell you that I have 158471 km on it and my last service was only recently. I hope that helps you? Thanks again!

Hey, so the mileage and the most recent service are good to know. Of course, it could be that the problem was already apparent during the service, but it's always difficult to judge something like that from a distance. I can only advise you not to wait too long and to make the workshop appointment sooner rather than later. Incidentally, I also had the wiring between the sat nav and the audio system checked at the time, so maybe there's something wrong there too? It's a tedious fiddly job, but it could help to reduce the costs a bit. Otherwise, it really is a vicious circle: sometimes the navigation system works, sometimes it doesn't and the audio system goes haywire anyway... You just have to get through it. And if you're unsure, ask the garage to give you an estimate so that you know what to expect. I hope I've been able to help you!

Hi, thanks for your helpful advice. So I have a few options to take care of. Will definitely make a garage appointment early and ask them to give me an estimate. It's really annoying when the sat nav and audio system don't work properly. And the thing about checking the wiring between the sat nav and the audio system definitely sounds sensible, I'll ask them about it. Thanks again for your time and effort!
