Multiple Warning Lights on my Mitsubishi eK, Need Help!

ABS/DSC system is not working

Airbag warning light

Hey everyone, getting a bit concerned about my 2010 Mitsubishi eK (62,090 km, gas engine). My ABS and DSC aren't working, plus I've got both airbag warning lights lit up on the dash. My previous mechanic wasn't very helpful, and I suspect it might be related to the steering angle sensor. Has anyone dealt with similar warning lights on their eK? Any recommendations for a trustworthy mechanic who's good with Mitsubishi electrical issues? Really want to avoid getting ripped off again. Thanks in advance for any help!

Had a similar issue with my 2013 Mitsubishi Mirage last month. The ABS, DSC, and airbag lights all came on at once. My mechanic found that the cable connection to the steering angle sensor was damaged, it had some corrosion and was barely making contact. The fix wasn't too complicated: needed to replace the wiring harness that connects to the sensor, and they had to recalibrate the steering angle sensor afterward. It wasn't a serious mechanical problem, just an electrical connection issue that's pretty common in these models as they age. I'd recommend finding a shop that specializes in Asian cars or, better yet, a Mitsubishi specialist. Since it involves safety systems (ABS, airbags), you'll want someone who knows what they're doing with the diagnostic equipment. My guy at Auto Excellence has worked on Mitsubishis for 15+ years, makes a big difference when they know the common issues with specific models.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds exactly like what I'm dealing with. I'm relieved to hear it wasn't a major mechanical issue. Hey, do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the repair? Also, has everything been working smoothly since the fix? Just wanna make sure it's actually worth going through with the repair at my end.

Hey there! Happy to give you an update on my Mirage repair. Since getting it fixed last month, everything's been running perfectly, no more warning lights on the dash! The whole thing cost me 155€, which honestly wasn't as bad as I was expecting. The repair was pretty straightforward, just needed to sort out that faulty cable connection to the steering angle sensor. My mechanic actually showed me the corroded cable when they replaced it, and it's crazy how such a small thing can trigger so many warning lights. The communication with the steering angle sensor is now spot on, no more error messages or anything. Trust me, it's definitely worth getting it fixed. Not only for peace of mind but also because you want those safety systems working properly. Plus, leaving it unfixed could potentially lead to bigger issues down the road. Hope this helps with your decision-making! Let me know if you need anything else.

Just wanted to update everyone, got my eK fixed today! You were totally right about it being the steering angle sensor connection. Found this great mechanic who specializes in Mitsubishis, and they sorted it out in just a few hours. Cost me about 170€, which wasn't too bad considering all the warning lights it was throwing. The mechanic showed me the old wiring, it was pretty corroded, just like you mentioned. They replaced the harness and recalibrated everything. Took it for a test drive, and all the warning lights are gone! ABS and DSC are working perfectly now. Really glad I didn't put this off any longer. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, saved me from probably getting overcharged somewhere else! Feels great to have everything working properly again.
