Error message in the speedometer

Hey fellow BMW owners. My 2019 6-series with the gas engine started showing errors across multiple displays, infotainment system, speedometer, and diagnostic memory all indicate issues. Has anyone dealt with similar fault codes and warnings? What did your mechanic find and how was it resolved? Looking for repair insights before heading to the workshop.

Hey there! I've got some experience with BMWs, having owned a 2017 4-series. Had a pretty similar situation actually, multiple display errors popping up all over the place. It was super annoying! Took it to my regular workshop where I've been going for a few years (I'd say I have low-to-moderate car expertise myself). Turned out the coding in the vehicle's computer system was messed up. They had to reconfigure the whole system, which cost me around 360. After that, everything went back to normal. Before I can give you more specific advice, could you share what exact error codes you're getting? Also, has anything been modified on your car recently, like software updates or electrical work? This info would help determine if you're dealing with the same issue I had. Tip: Make sure you go to someone who really knows BMW systems. This isn't something for a general mechanic since it's all about computer coding.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the 4-series! I really appreciate the detailed response. Mine has just hit 57238 KM and had its latest service about 3 months back. The errors started showing up just last week, and I'm getting fault code P0456 along with some transmission-related warnings. Haven't done any mods or updates recently, everything's stock. That's good to know about the coding issue, definitely makes me feel better that it might not be a major mechanical problem. I'll make sure to find a BMW specialist. Did your errors also start out of nowhere, or was there any specific trigger you noticed? Just trying to gather as much info as possible before I take it in.

Hey again! Good to hear back from you. Yeah, my 4-series also started showing these errors pretty out of nowhere, was just driving normally one day and boom, warning lights everywhere! Mine was around 62000 KM when it happened, so pretty similar mileage to yours. The P0456 code you're getting, that's different from what I dealt with though. Mine didn't have the transmission warnings either. But here's something interesting, after they fixed my coding issue, they actually found a small evap system leak that was causing additional error codes. It was a loose gas cap seal, super simple fix. What's worrying me about your case is those transmission warnings combined with everything else. When I had my coding issue, it was mostly just display errors. The fact you're getting mechanical warnings too makes me think you might be dealing with something a bit more complex than what I had. My advice would be to get it checked sooner rather than later. And definitely document when these errors appear, like if it's when you're starting the car, during driving, or after it's been sitting for a while. The mechanics really appreciated that kind of info when I brought mine in. Let me know how it goes at the workshop, I'm really curious if it turns out to be similar to my situation or something else entirely!

Thanks so much for all this detailed feedback! You've definitely given me a clearer picture of what I might be dealing with. Yeah, I've been keeping notes about when these errors pop up, mostly during startup and sometimes after driving for about 20 minutes. You're right about the transmission warnings making this different from your case, that's what's got me most concerned. I've actually just booked an appointment with a certified BMW specialist for next week. Your experience with the coding issue and that sneaky evap system leak is super helpful to know about, I'll make sure to mention these possibilities to them. Really hoping it's something relatively straightforward like in your case, but at least I'm going in more informed now. Thanks again for taking the time to share all this info. I'll probably update the forum once I find out what's actually causing all these errors. Fingers crossed it's not too complex or expensive!

Let our mechanics help you!
