Thanks for sharing your experience. The symptoms you described with your Q5 match exactly what I am seeing with my Q7. The combination of low voltage during engine start and those persistent error messages is quite concerning. Could you share how much the total repair ended up costing? Also curious if you have experienced any power management issues since getting it fixed? I want to be prepared for what to expect both financially and reliability-wise. A multi-day repair for battery replacement and system diagnostics sounds extensive.

I wanted to follow up on the repair costs and outcome. The total repair bill came to 290 Euro for fixing the battery malfunction, which covered the full diagnostic work, parts, and labor. Since seeing the mechanic and getting the auxiliary battery replacement done, all power management issues have completely resolved. The engine start is now smooth with proper voltage levels, and those annoying error messages have disappeared from the speedometer. No battery failure warnings or electrical glitches have occurred in the months following the repair. The investment was worth it to have the root cause properly diagnosed and fixed rather than just trying a quick battery swap. The charging system is now maintaining proper voltage levels, and the battery management system is working as designed. If your symptoms match what I experienced, having the complete system checked is definitely the right approach, even though the repair takes a few days to complete properly.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I took my Q7 to a certified shop that specializes in electrical diagnostics. Just like suggested, they performed a complete system check rather than just swapping the battery. Turns out my voltage regulator was indeed causing the auxiliary battery to discharge. The total repair came to 310 Euro including: Full electrical diagnostic testing, New voltage regulator, AGM battery replacement, System recalibration The repair took 3 days but was worth the wait. The engine start is now crisp with proper voltage, all error messages are gone, and the power management system works perfectly. No more battery failure warnings or electrical gremlins. The shop did great work identifying and fixing the root cause rather than just treating symptoms. For anyone facing similar issues, definitely get the whole charging system checked. A proper diagnosis saves money in the long run by preventing repeated battery failures.

Where did you have it repaired? I also have the same problem with my Q7.

It's great to hear that the issue was resolved for you. For your Q7, I recommend starting by checking the voltage regulator and the overall charging system. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, it's crucial to have a certified shop perform a full electrical diagnostic to identify the root cause. Let us know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Had the same battery malfunction issues with my 2019 Audi Q5. The symptoms were identical, voltage drop during engine start, instrument cluster errors, and stored fault codes. The root cause was not just a failing battery, but a complete auxiliary power system problem. The alternator was not properly charging the battery due to a faulty voltage regulator. This caused the battery to consistently discharge below optimal levels. The repair required: Full electrical system diagnostic, Replacement of voltage regulator, New AGM battery installation, Battery management system recalibration, Clearing all stored fault codes This was a serious repair that took multiple days since the technicians needed to verify the charging system was functioning correctly after the fix. Unusual battery replacements without addressing the underlying charging issue would have led to repeated battery failures. For Q7 owners facing similar issues, recommend getting a complete electrical system diagnosis before just replacing the battery. A proper voltage drop test across the charging circuit can identify if the problem extends beyond just battery failure.
