Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know it was the climate control unit. If you don't mind me asking, what did the repair end up costing you? Also, have you had any other AC problems since getting it fixed? Sounds like your shop did a proper job, and I'm seriously considering making the trip to Manchester since finding someone who really knows EVs is proving to be a bit of a nightmare in my area!
Hey again! Happy to help out! Since you asked about the costs, I paid 880€ for the complete fix of the climate control unit. And I've got good news, since getting it repaired last summer, my AC has been working like a charm! Not a single problem with it. The error code that kept popping up on the display is completely gone too. I honestly think it was worth every penny because now my car's climate control works exactly like it did when it was new. The shop in Manchester really knows their stuff, they even gave me a detailed explanation of what went wrong with the original unit and showed me the faulty parts. If you're thinking of making the trip up here, I'd say go for it. They're honest, know their EVs inside out, and won't try to upsell you on stuff you don't need. Much better than dealing with mechanics who are still learning about electric vehicles! Let me know if you want their contact details, happy to share them in a private message.
Thanks! Really appreciate all the info. I took your advice and went to my local EV specialist yesterday. You were spot on about needing someone who knows their stuff with electric vehicles. Turns out my issue was pretty similar, faulty climate control unit. Cost me about 900€, but they did a fantastic job. The mechanic showed me the old unit and explained everything clearly. They even found and fixed a minor wiring issue while they were at it, no extra charge. The AC's now blasting cold air like new, and the heating works perfectly too. Funny thing is, I was so worried about finding a good mechanic, but these guys made it super easy. They had me in and out in a day, and even gave me a courtesy car while they worked on mine. Definitely keeping them as my go-to shop from now on! Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, saved me a lot of hassle and probably some money too. Sometimes it's worth paying a bit more to get it done right the first time!
Hey there! I can relate to your AC troubles. Had a similar issue with my 2023 Vauxhall Corsa-e last summer. The symptoms were pretty much identical, weak airflow and inconsistent temperature control. Took it to my regular EV specialist, and it turned out the climate control unit was failing. The blower motor and resistor were fine, but the main control module was defective. It was a serious job since they had to remove parts of the dashboard to access and replace the unit. Got it fixed within a day, and the AC's been working perfectly since then. If you're near Manchester, I can recommend the shop I used, they really know their stuff with Vauxhall EVs. They diagnosed it quickly and were straight-up about what needed fixing. Just a heads up, climate control issues in EVs can be tricky, so it's worth finding someone who specializes in electric vehicles rather than a general mechanic.
