Mokka Electric's Radar & Parking Sensors Gone Haywire

Park distance control without function

Hey all, I'm dealing with issues on my 2021 Vauxhall Mokka Electric. Park distance control stopped working completely, getting general electrical fault warnings and a warning light in the speedo cluster. I suspect it might be related to the radar sensor. Has anyone encountered similar problems? Would love to hear what the diagnosis was at your workshop and how it was fixed. Getting it checked soon but wanted to gather some insights first.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Corsa-e (I've got some experience with EVs). The parking sensors just stopped working one day, and I got those annoying warning lights too. Took it to my local workshop, and turns out the sensor was just really dirty, probably from all the winter road grime. They gave it a thorough clean, recalibrated the system, and it was good as new. Cost me about 45€, which wasn't too bad. Quick question, have you noticed if this happens more in bad weather? Also, which exact trim level is your Mokka-e? Might help me give you more specific advice since these systems can vary a bit.

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's good to know about the sensor cleaning. Mine's actually been acting up regardless of the weather (last service was just 2 weeks ago, at 255129 KM). I've got the SRi Nav Premium trim, by the way. I'll definitely get them to check for dirt and recalibrate first before looking into more expensive fixes. Did your workshop mention how long the recalibration process took? Just trying to plan my day when I take it in.

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up about your Mokka-e. Yeah, on my Corsa-e, the recalibration took about an hour or so, but honestly, it might be different for your Mokka since it's a newer model. The whole service including cleaning and everything took maybe 2 hours total, I just hung out at the nearby coffee shop while waiting. Since you mentioned yours was just serviced 2 weeks ago and has quite a few kilometers on it (mine's around 220,000 km now), it might be worth checking if they actually cleaned the sensors properly during the service. Sometimes they miss that bit. Also, have you noticed any small bumps or scrapes near the sensors? On my Corsa-e, I once slightly bumped a pole while parking, and it knocked the sensor alignment off just enough to cause issues. If cleaning and recalibration doesn't sort it, there's a chance it could be a wiring issue, had that on my previous EV, but that's usually more expensive to fix. Fingers crossed it's just something simple like it was with mine! Let me know how you get on at the workshop.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful about the timing, I'll make sure to block out the whole morning just in case. And you make a really good point about the recent service. Come to think of it, I did have a minor scrape with a bollard in a tight parking spot last month, though it seemed fine at the time. I'll definitely mention that to the workshop when I take it in. I'm hoping it'll just be a cleaning and recalibration job like yours was. Really don't fancy dealing with wiring issues right now! Will give them a call tomorrow to book it in and specifically ask them to check those sensor alignments. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, it's made me feel a bit less worried about the whole thing.
