Mokka-E HV System Failure: Power Loss Problems & Fixes

Problem with the HV-System

General electric malfunction

Loss of engine power

Weak battery when starting the engine

Hey all, dealing with a frustrating issue with my 2021 Vauxhall Mokka Electric. Getting error messages about the HV-System and experiencing significant power loss. Battery seems weak during startup and there's a general electrical malfunction. I suspect it's related to the high-voltage system. Has anyone encountered similar problems? Would love to hear about your repair experiences and workshop solutions. Thanks!

Hey there! I totally get your frustration. Had a similar issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Corsa-e (I'm fairly familiar with EVs, some experience). The symptoms were exactly like yours, HV system warnings, power drops, the whole deal. Turned out to be a defective component in the high-voltage system. The best part? It was completely covered under warranty, so I paid nothing. My dealer fixed it within a day. What's your car's mileage and warranty status? That could be crucial info for getting this sorted. Also, are you seeing any specific error codes? Might help pinpoint the exact issue.

Thanks for sharing your experience! My mileage is currently at 130361 KM, and I had my last service about two months ago. I haven't seen any specific error codes, just those HV-System warnings you mentioned. Good to know yours was covered under warranty, I'll definitely check with my dealer about that. Just hoping it won't turn into a major repair job. Did your dealer mention how common this issue is with Vauxhall EVs?

Hey again! Thanks for the follow-up info. Yeah, looking at your mileage (about 130k km), it's quite similar to when I had my issues, mine was around 125k km when the HV problems started showing up. When I talked to my dealer about it during the repair, they mentioned that while it's not super common, they've seen this issue pop up in a handful of Vauxhall EVs, especially after the 100k mark. In my case, they found that the battery management system needed some attention, along with a faulty connector in the high-voltage circuit. Given that you had service just two months ago, it's a bit surprising this cropped up so soon. Did you notice any warning signs before the full-blown issues started? With mine, I had some minor power fluctuations for about a week before the system really started acting up. One thing I learned from my experience, don't wait too long to get it checked out. These HV system issues can sometimes cascade into bigger problems if left unattended. My suggestion would be to schedule a diagnostic check ASAP, even if just for peace of mind. The fix might be simpler than you think! Let me know what your dealer says, I'm curious if they find the same issue I had. Keep us posted!

Thanks so much for all this detailed information! Actually, now that you mention it, I did notice some slight power inconsistencies about a week and a half ago, but I brushed it off as nothing serious. Really kicking myself for not paying more attention to those early warning signs! I've just called my dealer and managed to get an appointment for next Tuesday. Your experience has been super helpful, it's given me a much better idea of what to expect and definitely made me feel less worried about the whole situation. I'll make sure to ask them specifically about the battery management system and high-voltage circuit when I take it in. Really hoping it's something similarly straightforward like in your case. I'll definitely update the thread once I know what's going on. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, it's exactly the kind of firsthand info I was looking for!
