Mokka's Boost Pressure Woes: Power Loss & Jerking Issues

Jerking on acceleration

Hey all, having some trouble with my 2022 Vauxhall Mokka (diesel) and need your input. My engine's been acting up lately, losing power, running rough, and jerking when I accelerate. Check engine light is also on. I suspect it might be the boost pressure control system. Last mechanic visit wasn't great, so I'm looking for recommendations and similar experiences before taking it in again. Car's done about 70,486 km. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms? Where did you get it fixed, and was the diagnosis accurate? Thanks in advance!

Had the same issue with my 2019 Vauxhall Grandland X diesel last summer. Symptoms matched exactly what you're describing, power loss, rough running, and jerky acceleration. Turned out to be the wastegate valve linkage that needed adjustment. Got it sorted at my local Vauxhall specialist after the main dealer couldn't pinpoint the issue. The wastegate wasn't opening and closing properly, causing inconsistent boost pressure. Mechanic showed me how the linkage had gotten out of alignment, affecting the whole boost control system. Not a major repair in terms of parts, but it's crucial to get it done right as it affects engine performance and could lead to bigger issues if left unchecked. Mine took about 2-3 hours to fix, and the car's been running smoothly since then. Based on your symptoms, definitely worth getting the boost system checked, particularly the wastegate mechanism. Just make sure to find someone who knows these engines well.

Thanks that's exactly what I needed to hear! Good to know it wasn't anything too serious. Do you remember roughly how much you ended up paying for the fix? Also, has everything been running smoothly since, or have you had any other niggles pop up?

Hey again! Yeah, happy to help! The fix cost me 240€ for the wastegate valve linkage adjustment, which seems pretty reasonable considering how much better the car runs now. The best part is that since getting it sorted, the Functional limitation of the boost pressure control issue has been completely resolved. My Grandland X has been running like a dream, smooth acceleration, proper power delivery, and no more check engine lights. It's been about 8 months now, and I haven't had a single problem with the boost system or anything related. I actually feel quite lucky that it was just the wastegate linkage needing adjustment rather than having to replace any major components. My mechanic did mention these issues are fairly common in modern diesels, so it's worth keeping an eye on the boost system during regular services. Trust me, once you get it sorted, you'll notice the difference straight away. The car feels like new again!

Update: Just got back from the mechanic, and I'm so relieved! Took it to the specialist you recommended, and you were spot on. They found the same wastegate linkage issue and sorted it out in about 2.5 hours. Cost me 225€, even a bit cheaper than yours! The difference is like night and day. No more jerking or power loss, and the engine's running super smooth now. The mechanic was really helpful, showed me exactly what was wrong, and explained how they fixed it. Even gave the boost system a thorough check while they were at it. Really glad I asked here before going back to the main dealer. Saved myself some time and probably money too. The specialist knew exactly what they were looking for thanks to your input. Thanks again for sharing your experience, it really helped me get this sorted quickly and properly. Feels great to have the car back to its best!
